I've given serious thought to the game I want to dedicate some spare time to. It's down between Chess and a variant and Go. From what I hear, Go is the simplest and deepest game in existence. Does any here play either of these games? Can you describe the depth of understanding you're able to achieve?

ehh.. isn't Go very hard?
there's some myth: no two games of go are alike.
(if you are indeed talking about the japanese board-game)

go is anything but simple. the basic rules and the layout are, but like chess, there is much more to it. according to the rulebook, about 10000 games of GO should make you feel familiar with the basic rules.

the the basic principles of go are relatively easy. some people are insanely good but that doesn't mean you can't play. just look for someone that's on your level. go is fun.
