quite a few orb fanatics in here :) I take it uforb refers
to "ufo" by the orb? i'm drinking red wine, i just a smoked
a spliff and filled my room with this album. the walls are
alive. this is great.

I find the Psychic Pals Family Wealth Plan Mix by Carl Craig
to the best remix of an Orb track ever, but the Sabres and
Evensong String Arrangment are bloody awesome too. Oh, and
the Aubrey Mixes LP is sweet as hell.

the orb & the klf both played their part in influencing the
'idm' scene, as did detroit techno & chicago house

it's actually called uforb. curse these bad labelled mp3s.
towers of dub just passed. it's a rather massive dub tune.
spacey, reverby dub invading my room. i'm having some close
encounters at the moment. this album is very good :)

Speaking of Victor Lewis Smith, did anyone watch the 'Ad
Infinitum' series he did a good few years ago? It tickled my
funnybone something rotten.

at the risk of sounding heretical, I've found myself
listening to Cydonia a lot over the years. Very deep
percussive soundscapes in most of the tracks.

Also, as to the allegeded planned "2-cd" release of Cydonia:
well, I can tell that at least the early promos (or leaks or
whatever) of Cydonia back in the days had maybe half a dozen
tracks that were left out of the retail version, to be
replaced (mostly) by neater, simpler, shorter, more
"disco"-oriented material.

There's some really looooongwiiiiiiinded material on the
early Cydonia disc. Some of it is OK. But I find at least
the retail version one of the strongest lps of its time, if
not Alex's best work.

Too bad they messed up and dumbed down that weird
drum-roll-in-a-washing-machine track
i-forget-what-it's-called in the retail, though, since that
sounded much better on the promo methinks. Ghostdancing is
my favourite probably.

Also, pomme fritz can play with your head if you want to
talk to it and let it talk to you while in "deep
meditation".

Little fluffy clouds is heavenly pop; I think it's like the
hidden link between klf and later orb. I may (also) be
stupid though.

Actually that sample says "hi i'm rags" and its a robot dog
from that woody allen film Sleeper, which also features "the
orb" a futuristic pleasure device. Fact fans.
