Final Scratch, if you're really serious. Its a
hardware/software combo, you use real decks with special
records so you can play mp3s and still have the feel of
vinyl. You can scratch and stuff too. You probably know this
already, just do a search for it.

I didn't think Final Scratch was even past the
prototype/getting tested by Richie Hawtin stage yet, much
less affordable.

actually, i don't want to have this very special
vinyl-feeling

there is also a software (forgot the name) wich allows you
to connect hardware-controler (like those for cd-drives) to
mix..

any experiences?

yeah traktor's good, native instruments have generally good
programms, so i try to trigger it via midi, start tracks,
filter control etc. it's simple the best mp3 mixing
programm, wonderful for real-time fading and synchronising
(right?)mail me if anyone need it, h_marc@gmx.ch

I cant help but be drawn to the possibility of gigging with
just a laptop. I`ve seen some software running on various
knocked up deviced but always been a little"distracted" at
the time. Anyone know of any software that really stands up
to a live performance?

alcrow, big thing for me also is whether the laptop sounds
ok through a soundsystem, but we've just been rehearsing in
a space with a very good soundsystem, and to be honest, my
laptop is a shitty ancient thing with no memory running acid
2.0 and it sounds FANTASTIC!!! honestly, don't worry about
it, try to hire somewhere for even an hour, theres loads of
places everywhere, one hour will cost you fuckall, and you
can see how much power it will generate.
you'll be very surprised!!! it has alot to do with the
soundsystem

I dont know what stage final scratch is at, but I knwo you
can buy it cause a friend of mine has it. Hes on the other
side of the continent right now though so I havent seen it.
You're right it is very expensive though, I think it comes
with its own laptop though.
