Or maybe he is just pissed off at someone trying to piggyback on their hard work and success.
I was thinking the same thing.
My personal opinion is that ThomasRhombus is overly infatuated with the fact that he made a fake. All it did was cause confusion to those who didnt get the real deal. All it was was an inconvience for those trying to hear the real thing due to impatience.
Overlooking the situation most people were disappointed in the fake. That shouldnt even come as a surprise because although it seems like autechre to some.... people that know better knew it wasnt.
Its kind of like a drunk man being attracted to a transvestite. He thinks its a girl at first but through further investigation he realizes that this girl isnt what she claimed to be. Causing horror and disgust.
To this point i still dont understand what the big thing is about making a fake and then being an attention whore about it is. I know many people here (myself included) that work hard to make their own original tracks. Alot of time and thought and personal ideas and feelings go into these things. When you make a fake not only is it not original but there is nothing behind it. Its like cracking a peanut shell open only to find nothing inside.
This ThomasRhombus guy will be forgotten in months to come when the real album comes out to those that didnt listen to the fake and more analords flood our ears. BOC is on the horizon and in the end this fake will have been nothing other than a waste of time.
well I wonder if they liked what they heard, beyond the issue at hand... -gl0tch-
I am assuming that you are joking that a talented duo would be awe inspired by some generic ripoff? All that was aquired was the run of the mill "15 minutes" and thats about it. Its all downhill from here regarding this issue.
Hopefully down the line ThomasRhombus will go back to making original material. I think everyone would appreciate that a bit more.

-Is that necessarily a problem? I'm sure Warp doesnt think so.
although it seems like autechre to some.... people that know better knew it wasnt.
-Lol, are ya sure? I could probably query several posts that would prove otherwise... Plus, a handful of us knew they spoke of investigating newer things with this album. That's the point with Autechre you never know. (reread the interview for proof)

-You should realize these tracks were NOT written specifically as a fake. They are nearly 2 years old, on an album, and obviously original. Luckily, he doesnt take himself so seriously.
This ThomasRhombus guy will be forgotten in months to come...BOC is on the horizon and in the end this fake will have been nothing other than a waste of time.
-Who's to say he hasn't already written the faked version of that album too. (considering it would be MUCH easier to fake)
I am assuming that you are joking that a talented duo would be awe inspired by some generic ripoff?
-No. Are you serious? I never said awe inspired. I said 'liked.' Big difference. If AE represent the end-all-be-all for you, you still don't think they are music fans at the end of the day? C'mon. There are some really good ideas going on in Fluorescent Grey's album. It seems you're just too wound to realize it.
Hopefully down the line ThomasRhombus will go back to making original material. I think everyone would appreciate that a bit more.
-Again, please do you research.

I'm with Sean on this one. The more the merrier. How could you be pissed off that someone put together a fake Untilted album and let people download it. You shouldn't even be able to hear the real thing until it's released anyways. And for the people that thought it was Autechre....what were you thinking? The production and ideas were nothing like Autechre put out. It was like a mess of lukewarm gruel to my ears. Best approximation. Citars anyone? Get real. Were you ever aware before Sean came right out and said it in the interview that they try to dissociate their sounds so that you're not listening to "this thing [i.e. a citar]", but just the sound in itself? Well, I've yet to hear the real thing. So call me a dick if you want.

Personally i think your too much of a fluorescent grey fan boy. I can say that my opinion is balanced as i am not the biggest autechre fan out there.
What research is there to do? He makes/made music that he tried to pass off as autechre's. It needs to sound like autechres music to pass as a fake. Therefore the music no matter how old you would like to say it is, is unoriginal.
My opinion sparked because i noticed this guy tooting his own horn for something as lame as making a fake. Him and a couple of accounts sprang up to sing praises of what a wonderful job of spoofing the community he did.
my point is that i had a legit promo before i heard his version. To me i can tell the difference between autechres talent and a developing artist.
overall i respect people that make music for themselves and dont market it in some bullshit fashion. I mean i never heard of this guy until now. I could imagine him not getting well recieved and trying this ploy to garner more listeners and hopefully generating a fanbase. This perfectly coincides with lee's earlier comment of "...someone trying to piggyback on their hard work and success. " which i think summed up the situation quite well.
Do my research? On what? In my viewpoint i believe i nailed this one on the head. There is nothing extravagent about his work. I'm sorry to be the first one to speak my honest mind in a negitve fashion.
These posts of mine arent supposed to be flames/insults and i hope they are not taken as such. I am merely adding commentary to the situation in a "no holds barred" fashion. By being honest, upfront and blunt.
As for really good ideas on his album... i am sure there are. I am not saying directly that his album is completely void of originality but its hard to desipher when there are thousands of electronic artists doing similar things.

Wow, I wonder if they were thinking that when they were writing Confield and working through the blatant tabla sounding structures of "VI Scose Poise" ?

I don't get why spreading fakes is such a big deal either - for the faker I mean.
so it's easy to spread fakes using p2p-networks. wow, as if we didn't know that already.
it's easy spreading fake information through the internet period.
why go to the trouble, etc.
