i wanted to put steve reich on third place, but i think for
others its not idm. it is for me, so, if you consider whole
spectrum of music , you can replace teebee with steve reich
and his beautiful "music for 18 musicians", section 8.

im unfamiliar with your first two councils and am now very
keen to look into these songs, but i do own the titleless ae
album with fold 4 wrap 5 on it and shall give this song
another listen when i get in. ill fav this post to make sure
i hear all the songs you lot suggest some time soon. i love
finding new (to me) music.

oh well um...

autechre- rotar
boc- june 9th
aphex- funny little man

not treating ambient or drill n bass as idm

coz generally idm is treated as a electronic music, while
reich is a neo-classic composer, who plays with patterns,
and he uses classic instruments, choirs and stuff. plus
sometimes samplers. its very intelligent, not too much
danceable, but hes my top 5 number 3. check his album
"different trains-electric counterpoint". half of world
music in one album, believe me.

John Cage - 4'33

Boards Of Canada - Magic Window

Kid 606 - dramatic pause of silence to signify the end of
the album and beginning of the additional songs included on
the cd to make people feel better about buying the cd
instead of the vinyl

an Autechre track, not sure which one; i remember the names
but what they sound like... well, almost any from their
later period should do, if it's for an example they're all
pretty much similar and good i think, so say pick a random
one from Confield.

a Squarepusher track... Come On My Selector or something
like that, maybe?

an Aphex Twin track, i don't remember what "Girl/Boy Song"
sounds like but from what i remember it's a pretty typical
and popular one no?

umm...:

i almost feel like your better off defining it by really
throwaway type artists than ones who might possibly be good
enough to merit any mention of genre transcendence... tough
question... it'd be easier if it was maybe 5 or 6, but 3 is
quite limiting...
