ive read alot of negative reviews of the analord series. i
have a question is there an actual ep or 10 single releases,
anyone? i just bought 1-5(without hearing)

same thing happened for me with drukqs read some negativity
before i heard it right when it came out. when i heard it i
loved all of it. Afx to me was the first to combine
effects, beats and his "found" sounds or modified sounds and
his element of melody on a level(complex) where in a way it
was not experimental or an "accident" he had it down to a
science. before him phillip glass, john cage, fsol. like
phillip glass were is the jungle/ breaks he didnt combine
all the elements(he wasnt trying to) like afx. fsol, where
is that ridiculos complexity syncopation, execution of
triplets on the drums+effects. NO dis on either by ANY
means. I believe some people are saying afx analord is crap
that is subjective/because they can. alot of these people
critiqueing have never turned on a sampler or drummachine.
i appreciate because i have made tracks. i like hip hop,
triphop, idm, jungle. all different U cant compare. You
cant really compare hiphop to afx. but my point is afx is
king of this whole electronic thing anything made on a
sequencer. He could make better beats/tracks than dr dre, dj
premier, johnny L, venetian snares, fsol, producer of
brittney spears anyone in there respective styles if he
wanted to in my opinon. by better i mean sound better in
general more likely to bop your head too and sell more
copies. im not jocking afx. after ICBUD, RDJ, Come to daddy,
windowlicker and Drukqs I ask who can beat him? no answers
have satisfied me yet. I HAVE SPOKEN!

negative writing is at www.metafilter.com/mefi/38278 or
search yahoo>aphex twin analord, aprox 3 down the list,
after reading there my post would make more sense.

Isn't it just the old "my opinion is more valid than you're
opinion" argument? (e.g. a pointless waste of time). If you
like aphex (or anything else for that matter) thats
ok........ if you don't like aphex, then thats ok
aswell..........

Anyway, welcome to xltronic....... plently of aphex
fan(boi)s here :)

ok agreed. basically wanted to know if there is a release
titled "ep" or if its only analord 1-10.

only 1-10, as seperate vinyl releases, no cd (at this
point).... 10 was released first with a limited edition
binder.............. and i think 10 will be released again,
after 1-9, but not with the binder..... and maybe the first
release of 10 was audiophile quality (but i might have that
wrong)

I agree with you 100%, so it's nice to hear this. Especially
coming from someone with a hip-hop background. Apart from
round these parts I think RDJ is very under-stated/rated or
whatever the most accurate term is.

Oh, and it's 11 single releases with 1-5 and 10 already out.
10 was limited to 1000 copies and available only from
Rephlex and has sold out despite the initial £40 price tag.
If you want that now it's always on ebay for about £150 odd
quid. The others should be out in the coming months.

Oh and 10 is by Aphex Twin, and 1-5 are by AFX. Not sure
about the rest though. This is significant beacuse the
styles are quite different.

my collection will probably lack 10.

10 is excellent stuff. Most would say it is better than the
rest so far yes, and I would too. Only 2 tracks; Fenix Funk
5 and XMD5A. Both are much more complex and Aphex-sounding
if that makes any sense. XMD5A makes use of haunting bells
and a watered-down piano anlong with shifts in crazy
fast-paced beats. Both have lush melodies that tend to wash
over the song towards the end. Much more profound than 1-5,
and kind of more what you would expect to hear post-Druqks.

he's proper taking the piss with this Analord release.

1000 people bought the limited 10, which means 40,000quid
allready, and he knows that them people who bought the
linited 10 will also buy 1-9 no matter what, just good
marketing releasing 10 as the limited one cos the hardcore
fans are then suckered into buying the rest, at a fiver a
pop thats another 45,000quid at least.

like i said, taking the piss big time.

26 remixes for cash then a box of wank for even more cash.

Yeah because out of that £40 it's not as though they had to
pay for the cost of the heavyweight pressed vinyl, the cost
of custom binder manufacturing, the cost of packaging and
international shipping charges. And for the regular vinyl
I'm sure they didn't have the cost of the
pressings...Rephlex, AFX and Aphex Twin must be laughing
their tits off counting their untold riches.

which he deserves as we bought his unique product, which is
delightful.

i didnt knew that costs of all these are so big. how about
other vinyls that you can get for more than twice less than
analord ? to be honest - all other vinyls... seems that
they're made out of shit poo pressed by some cheap labors.
easterns, probably.

he releases something from his shelfs, ya know, the things
that even he doesnt remember doing them.
