WHat would I need and how would I go about taking an AVI
clip and making it or a bit of it, into a GIF. The digital
camera I use can take moving images and it would be cool to
turn one into a GIF.

you need to basically make it like a cartoon and add
individual frames....... as far as I'm aware

I use Flash Mx to do this. It breaks the avi into individual
frames and can be easily edited / resized..then exported as
a gif.
