Tonearm Static

Static noise can be heard through the speakers when lifting
the tonearm of my turntable.

Solution?

don't lift the tonearm.

That volumetric fog reminds me of the Unreal Engine.

I've heard you need to clean the tonearm connections but I
am without a manual for my 1200s and not willing to risk
busting it. I once broke a psx while attempting to install a
mod chip so naturally I'm hesitant to proceed without
advice.

No its definately not. The static appears regardless of the
sound system thats used.

I've used two different mixers with my turntables. Same.

I know its a problem with the turntable itself.

If I put the turntable on a rubber pedestal in the middle of
the room free from any electrical interference the static
will still appear. I'm sure it has to be one of the
connections between the components; possibly the headshell
and tonearm.

Negative! It is possible to aquire a Caig Deox-It pen at
turntablelab. Checking price....

$13.50 USD

Mmmmm.... Although the tutorial in your link said to use the
Caig Deox-It pen, I cant help but notice that he is using a
cue tip in the picture...

It is an attempt at humor made by positioning the tip of a
tornarm over rapper Q-Tip's head from his album,
"Amplified". This stems from the observation that the photo
from the tutorial features a tonearm being cleaned by a cue
tip.

Sean Booth on De La Soul:
"I got really annoyed when De La Soul came along in 1989,"
groans Booth, "and everyone said how brilliant it was. But I
just thought, how lame is that? You sample some white music
and suddenly you're cool? It's the only way a black guy can
get any sort of success these days. They were loved by the
indie press when they came out but I thought 3 Feet High And
Rising was a low point. It was really up itself. Plus my
mate Ged met them in Manchester and they were cunts to
him."

Taken from here here.

On a side note, the above interview appears as the first
result when searching google for "autechre interview, de la
soul, cunts"
