Am i the only one who cant stand pop or rock? And, no, not even the old hip ´60 ´70 OR ´80s pop or rock. Listening to electric bass n guitar makes me puke. Most lyrics do too. I´m not going to add "oh, but in a way, 60s jazz, marwin gaye, louie armstrong , the beatles (sorry ophecks), NIN, Linkin park, or limp bizkit has made a few good tracks CAUSE I HONESTLY DONT THINK SO.

i thought i didn't like any song as well, but you can look at it as a genre and in this genre there are still some classics. i recently got all the beatle-albums on mp3 for instance and as a whole album i really dug sgt pepper, great fun with this sgt peppers lonely hearts club band song followed by with a little help from my friends, john lennon maybe was really cool and paul mc cartney maybe never really was

I woke up this morning with Celine Dion - My heart will go on - in my head...
Even sung a bit of it in the car (and nearly got punched by my fellow passagers)...suprised myself by knowing quite a few of the lyrics...
Am i ashamed?...well...Yes...
But it's not my fault...the office next door has only 5 CDs (Celine, Robbie W, DIDO, The (FUCKING) lighthouse family & The Corrs)...
I'm infected...
Please remember me in your prayers this evening...

i like "rock" but rock isnt wot it used to be. It's become ppl like limp bizkit, linkin park, papa roach and any other band that u see on every black hoodie around the country!.... look for bands like Soulwax, radiohead, cay, mogwai, they're good. The boring PLAIN stuff is poo poo!
I'm getting into folky stuff... e.g Kings Of Convenience and Turin Brakes. Anyone else like them?

"Listening to electric bass n guitar makes me puke"
oh come on...
you are talking about linkin park & bizkit... not everything with guitars are like that... you know, i could say that i hate electronic music cause i've heard some shitty trance.
are you saying you don't like ANY other music than "electronic" music?
or no one other than "electronic artists" have ever made any good music?

I find myself drifting away from rock as well... it's a natural progression.
But the Beatles will ALWAYS be superior to everybody. They're far from just a guitar/pop band. They're magic, they're somehow the only uplifting, happy band that I like. Every other artist or band I'm into is so depressing and psychotic.

pop/rock bad? there is a big difference to what you hear on the radio and what is good. i think you need to find that out for yourself b. tea especially when you use the beatles in the same sentence as limp bizzzzzzzkit. i'm with ophecks in agreeing that the beatles created the greatest and most memorable music ever. see: white album or abbey road :) and there are other bands in the "pop/rock" section of your music store that have created amazing music as well...
talking heads velvet underground ...to name a few old ones... pixies pavement radiohead belle and sebastian dismemberment plan modest mouse ...to name more recent ones... IMO the best thing about intelligent pop music is that it can spread a message (usually political) to big audiences. recently, i think, radiohead has shown this with it's anti-globalisation views and i tihnk many people have picked up on this and learnt more from it. i'm off topic now... anyway b. tea if can't stand pop/rock i feel sorry for your ignorance to good music.

In "Electric bass n guitar" i didnt mean just Linkin Park or any of these. I played the guitar since i was like 2 (im 18), and i played in lots of bands. but when i slowly realized the complexity of electronic music, it occured to me that, this is what i want to do, and nowadays i PUKE AT ELECTRIC GUITARS. I find rock to be very dull. But i can only speak for myself.

what a ridiculous concept, all of pop and rock music being bad (or "sucks"). don't you hear any pop or rock in aphex twin? there wouldn't be any electronica w/o pop and rock. (and before the smarter of you interject and tell me rock and pop weren't the first types of music in the world or in america, i know.) there's so much amazing pop and rock music out there. i have to admit that i can't stand white radio (pop/rock format) anymore; i like about 1 out of every 10 RADIO singles (ie: not underground) on rock and pop radio. it's gotten bad, and i'm not just being grumpy. but only 1% of music (or less) is played on the radio. i'm more interested in electronica (mostly idm but also trip-hop, jungle, and just bizarre sound experiments) and hip-hop (not just underground either) now than rock and pop, but the hip-hop and electronica i like best has a warm, almost organic sound to it, and that's rock baby. rock and jazz. so anyway, open your ears and turn rock radio off - i'm sure most of the people on this board have and are willing to continue giving great recommendations outside of idm.
