*bit at least it's pretty filler material.

plus the artwork is stunning!

artwork doesnt count hahahaha
the album doesnt have BALLS!
from my observations, it appears that the if druqks is the
first rdj album they bought, then druqks is there favourite
album.
another example would be nin the fragile (very similar
albums) in that those who bought that album 1st claim it to
be reznors best, tho everyone else knows different.

only jesting, but reznors work has gone progressivly worse,
like rdjs's

I love this album, own it on CD and 4 x LP! Great Vinyl set
too! Love the way the 45rpm tracks can be played at 33! Ive
wowed many a friend on this alone!

Houses some of my favourite Aphex tracks inc. Vordhosbn and
Avril 14 to name a couple. How diverse! Again RDJ moves the
goalposts... a masterpiece? possibly.

Well, perhaps someone who heard Druqks first isn't as wrong
as you say? I mean, it means that they will not look at
older albums with rose-tinted glasses and fond memories but
will see things objectively.

I simply think Druqks is more complex, haunting, and
beautifully difficult to listen to (if that makes any sense)
than any of his other stuff. Particularly the first CD.

drukqs is too diverse...its almost as if he was
worried no one would like his new album so he included a
little bit of everything, just so everyone will have at lest
afew tracks they love...

now that i think about it, doesnt he do that all the time?
drukqs is just like all his previous albums. but with better
artwork.

Fair enough 1up. Heheh.

I can't see how anyone could say that about a track like 54
Cyrmu beats (or whatever it's called) or many other tracks
on the album, but each unto his own.

But why do you find it lame? is it the "filler" material?

"After that album I thought "uh this is it, where do we
go
from here, u cant make a more complex drill album".

Spot on; I'm pretty luke-warm about a lot of Drill and Bass,
but Drukqs is easily some of Aphex's best work IMO. I
still hear new details when listening to this day.
Loads of tiny subtleties in it. The amount of work put into
some of the tracks is simply staggering.

not as sharp as anything before.
i like most things (musically hahaha) as long as its got
balls.
i think rdj has lost his balls.

yeah, cause richie is just tearing his hair out over how
many people don't like his music!!

OMG OMG THEY DONT LIKE ME ?!!?!?!?!?

,....yeah ok ...

anyways, it's fantastic

easily one of my favs ... the drill includes very lush
melodies (melt, ending of vord... etc) ... some very
personal music in there too.

He sure was upset when Joyrex didn't like it that much. But
I love it. I haven't listened to it in like a year, but I'm
looking forward to breaking the silence.

You know how richard d james had stopped caring about making
music for a while? Well, that was drukqs. This really looks
to me to be similar to a bunch of pink floyd fans talking
about how great the division bell is.

the comparison with division bell hurt me, cos I think that
album is shit... I think pink floyd should have stopped at
the wall

so you think this albums is a good analogy to divisn bell
dissapointment?

nah... drukqs was released when richard was just 30 years
old... pretty in his early years of creation

maybe analord could be considered that, but not drukqs

drukqs is a great album, I dislike *most* of the paino
tracks, but everything else has a lot of depth, and soul,

taxidermist, I understand you don't like the album, but
saying it has no soul is kind of silly when so many people
can feel all kinds of things in this album, if everyone else
can enjoy it for it's emotional value and you can't, then
who do you think is more fit to make a judgement on it,

and let's not forget that to a lot of people, this is their
favourite, I think the worth and success can be rated by the
true fans, and they all like it,

I can understand that you don't like it, but you sound silly
arguing against it because I haven't heard a decent argument
yet.

the "[analord 3] klop job" post)

not at all i think.every stile he does on the album is
great.and how usual is it idm diggers like Piano tracks ?

offline ymenard on 2005-07-01 19:26 [#01650341]

The album's got like MASSIVE perfect tracks, nobody can deny
it or say anything against that. Jynweythek Ylow,
Vordhosbn, Cock/Ver 10, Avril 14th, Mt. Saint Michel Mix+St.
Michaels Mount, 54 Cymru Beats, Ziggomatic V17. If you hate
that, you hate idm lol.

All that is left, is two camps here. Ones that feel the
rest of the stuff is valuable and is worth being on the
album, the rest feels it shouldn't (in the progression of I
care because you do --> RDJ Album --> Drukqs), or should
have been released as seperate stuff.

I still have NEVER felt all those stupid reviewers saying
that it felt like leftovers from previous albums. WTF do
they have ears? None of the shit on drukqs could have been
made during that time, well ok almost none of it but it's
like perhaps 4-5 tracks. The beat tracks are like fucking
ahead in terms of complexity over everything he had done at
the time, heck that he has done still of today.

Damn it's already been 4 years old. 2001 was teh idm
bestest year. Drukqs/Confield/Go Plastic.

drukqs was the first album i bought by afx (after having a
burnt copy of 26 mixes) and its most definietely my
favourite album by him.
tho, i only really like the album for the electronic stuff,
so on my ipod and on my puta, i only listen to the SIXTY
MINUTE playlist of
vordhosbn
omgyja switch 7
bbydyhonchord
cock/ver10
mt saint michel
54 cymru beats
meltphace 6
taking control
afx237 v7
ziggomatic 17

good stuff

I was out for a walk a few minutes ago and I was listening
to gwarek2. It sounded so much like a silent hill 2
school/prison, but there are these children that are somehow
trapped and running from something screaming. The thing
pursueing them is a disfigured man? (or perhaps insect
seeing as whatever it was started screaming insect/rat like
hisses). As this thing takes them one by one its playfully
dancing around the floor tapping the lockers/bars with a
stick? or perhaps insect like arms?
heh, I'll shut up now..

just given this another play. It is a good album. No doubts
about that, hence i have 3 copies.

but it was nothing like the shock of the rdj album was. that

lol, when i bought drukqs cos it was the cheapest aphex cd
at the shop, and i put it on, and i was expecting the first
track to break ou into this electronic track, but it didnt,
and i was all confused, and then vordhosbn came on (really
loud too) and i was just sitting on my couch scared.
ahh, days of when i was still new to electronic music

I want to hear more tracks like the drill pieces in the
album. Like I said in the original post, most drill bores
me. But the structures, sounds and melodies (regardless of
the brilliant beat programming) in drukqs makes it ahead of
lots of electronic music being produced today. It has got
soul.

An ex-girlfriend of mine, one of whoms favorite songs is

to get into it and failed, I played it to her, and offered
to give it to her, and she refused.
