i've had music depressing me: a warm place by nin i at first
found like to warm, that i couldn't breath and stuff, that
was eerie, later became to like it. some same thing i had on
this drum and base party once, it really made me feel empty,
like i had to hug someone to fill the hole, rather
interesting

meshuggah is really horrible: i like it a lot. it's harder
in volume and tougher to get through then aphex, and in that
way more interesting and challenging , and it too has
complex rhythm patterns only more straight. the bass guitar
on their last album kicks ass, as do the a-tonal solo's of
frederick thornendal, i hope somebody knows them here. (for
some reason i like to compare them cause their both
avant-gard, in dance and metal)

funny little man is big fun, the voice makes me think of
cartman, i also really like 'stop making that big face',
that's the sweetest sample ever.
(big face i thought to be a bit of a strange name)

I'll have to agree with the hamburger lady vote, as well as
a couple other TG things. Same goes for a couple Skinny
Puppy tracks, spasmolytic for one, though I wouldn't
necessarily say 'scared'…that's what I was into…

No song has ever really scared me, but "Climbing up the
walls" by radiohead is a bit unsettling.

offline pachi from yo momma (United States) on 2002-02-12 06:36 [#00086058]

gwarek2 off of Aphex's drukqs shocked me at first

parhelic triangle, bine, & lentic catachresis from Ae's
Confield are unsettling but oddly pleasing after a while

unsettling is perhaps a good word for ventolin, but i've
long loved that track (to the displeasure of those sharing
my vicinity)!

yeh. My girlfriend is an aphex fan, but even she will put up
some resistance when it's ventolin I'm itching for. And
she's got asthma, too.

hmm, to me, ventolin is more a what the feck?! song than a
scary song.

i really don't see what could be scary about gwarek 2, it's
just interesting and kids playing which is fun, i only got a
shock from that one bass sound that suddenly is dropped in
but that was just the surprise, nothing eerie about it

I played Left Handshake for a friend once, and their first
reaction was, "pretty scary dude," or something like that,
but they weren't into SP previously, so I don't know what
else to expect.

Charlie's Family by Download is pretty fucking scary but
then again it's a soundtrack to a horror film that never got
released

been mostly-excellent. Furnace & something else I can't
remember.

Charlie's Family is my favourite Download...it's pretty
abstract and painfully noisy in parts..like a throw back to
the good ole scary industrial..can try out the song samples
at the Metropolis records site...The other albums "Eyes of
Stanley Pain"..this one's very different though..it's meant
to scare the pants off and not the most comfortable or
accessable..but I love it
