again... how does it look like with using samples from other artists ?? i mean for example venetian snares
i just discovered that he used some drexciya samples in "epidermis" (i'm sure that was discussed ages ago)
now my question is - did he have to ask them to use them? does he have to write an info on his record sleve - something like "drexciya samples in epidermis" ??
how does the situation look like with samples from for example - bach or mozart... the same situation ??

who cares how it "looks"? you have to make art the way you like it and if it involves using parts from other music, then that's what you have to do.

I think more artists should look into Sampling from the public domain.
All the mp3's on this site can be freely used. Intelligent Bluegrass anyone?

i think you asked two questions. one is about the legality of using samples, which i did not respond to, the other is "how does the situation look?". i addressed that second question because i think it is a more important one.

legally, yes you have to ask permission from the artist, or more commonly his/her publisher, who will most probably also be the one to kick up a fuss anyway.
this generally means you also need to pay for the use of the sample.
just mentioning you used it and not paying anything - it won't do.
on the other hand - if you keep to small printing numbers, large corporations generally won't go to the trouble of sueing you. good example is the Criminal series on Planet Mu - the first is 1000 copies and the 2nd one 2000, I think and they never had any trouble. it would basically cost more to sue them than not to.
