How can you tell the difference between the normal vinyl
and the nonrecycled audiophile version.. without opening the
seal on the packaging? Do they have different Cat No's, or
stickers on them.. or what?

the audiophile is numbered 1 - 1000. The vinyl is heavier
and it comes in a huge box with big ass artwork and lovely
sleeves for the vinyl.

I thought the normal version comes in the big box too? Or
maybe I've only seen the limited ed version, which is a nice
situation.

there's an X somewhere on the cat number.

I own ltd. edition - the difference is not in weight. It is
in the place where it was pressed. ltd was pressed in LA,
normal edition was pressed in UK an yes it has an "x" in the
category number (WARPLP92X)

ONLY on the vinyl it says WARP LP092X. On the outer
packaging the catalog # is for the regular version (i.e.
they didn't print a new box for the audiophile version)

The cardboard fold that holds the records in the box has an
aphex logo die-cut out of it. I have both the regular and
heavyweight vinyl versions, this is the only other
difference I can see.

i thought the 'x' meant it had xtra tracks...

Oh and the audiophile IS heavier (180g) than the regular
(150g). They were pressed at RTI in Camarillo, CA

difference is the place of pressing. Good to know :)

Aha, so the boxes are the same? Hmmm that's what i thought.
This one I'm investigating is still sealed, I want to tell
the differnce without breaking the seal. It has a little
black round sticker with a white aphex logo stuck to the
it.. dunno if that means anything.. (?)

Open that box up mate! It sounds almost exactly the same
either way, and you can play the 45s at 33rpm sounds so
fantastic...

yeah
look on the little black round sticker (that says DRUKQS in
like, keyboard keys with little shit on them) and it should
have a four digit number
like 0 0 0 5

that should tlel you.

elusive said.

Shit. They both have little aphex logostickers on, but the
audiophile one has a white border on it, and it has a silver
with "Premium vinyl pressing HQ-180" written on it.

Thanks all who helped, it has only the one little aphex A
sticker, no mention of hq-180 or number x/1000, so it must
be the normal version.

Coming soon, many ridiculous JoyrexJ9 questions :)

the sticker was on the shrinkwrap, not the box itself.

although it was easy to pull it off the shrinkwrap and stick
it on the box :)
