Last few times I've asked I've had about as much response
as someone asking for some marijuana at a Mormon's
meeting... :-/

boring stuff but some real lush songs too.

Huh, I am just listening to the first "Dark Side of the
Moog" album...

A lot of his early stuff is great. Air I and II, Silence I
and II, everything with Tetsu Inoue as co-pilot (2350
Broadway, Shades of Orion, etc.), the DSOTM series with
Klaus Schulze, Fires of Ork, Dreamfish I,
Psychonavigation...

I could go on, but I'll run out of room. ;)

Dreamfish I is indeed excellent...... Dreamfish 2 however,
i'm not too sure about... the 2nd fires of ork wasn't that
great either

track 2 on time^2 with tetsu inoue is incredibly great,
especially when you look on the cover.

You sure will.... :-)

Some people are very selective about what they like on Fax,
a lot of it gets dismissed...but I at least quite like a
good percentage of it, there's only intermittent dross imho,
for example The Putney 2, strange as number one was one of
the classics...

I'm collecting the label...anyone want to sell me the
original Dreamfish (PW02)? :-)

I really Fires of Ork 2, especially "In Heaven"...great to,
erm, well you know, to... :-)

Anyone care to put together a top five? :-)

Of the more recent stuff I love "Picnic" on Silence 5 most
as a single track, and Dark Side of the Moog 9 as an album,
in fact it's one of the best albums on the whole label,
which makes it all the more exciting that ten's out this
month...joy! :-)

oh, i don't know anywhere near enough of his music to make
that judgement..considering how much he releases i only have
a very smal percent of his work, sorry.. bump it up when
daweeze comes online, your best chance i think :)

He's slowed down his release rate a lot over the last few
years, in the mid-90s it seemed he was releasing one every
two weeks or so...!

that was the idea, release something every two weeks...
seems a bit silly really as you'd burn out well quick under
that release schedule.... no wonder he had to do so many
collaborations. i quite liked the one with ritchie
hawtin...

oh and i have the first Dreamfish on vinyl, but i'm not
selling it :)

Top 5 (off the top of my head):

1. tie between Air 1 and Air 2
2. Silence
3. Dreamfish
4. Shades of Orion
5. 2350 Broadway

Namlook released a lot of great stuff after these albums,
but I consider these the "classics".

Chris Meloche - Recurring Dreams of Urban Myth
Tetsu Inoue - Organic Cloud
Anthony Rother - Elixir Of Life

I like your list...I'd put From Within 1 before Broadway
though, and I have to admit I'm also a fan of the trance
stuff, 4 Voice, Limelight, Sequential etc...in fact I'm
awaiting Sequential from eBay as we speak... :-)

Top 5 Pete

1 Dreamfish 1
2 Silence 1
3 Air 1
4 Shades of Orion 1
5 From Within 1
(Spot a pattern yet?) :-)

Top 5 non-Pete

1 Waiting For Snow - Peter Benisch
2 Music To Films - Dr. Atmo / Oliver Lieb
3 Zenith - Tetsu Inoue / Carlos Vivanco
4 Ambiant Otaku - Tetsu Inoue
5 Sad World 2 - Dr. Atmo / Ramin

These lists change almost daily :-) Thank you...

I started a topic about pp nmlk (Jochem Paap and
Pete Namlook) a while ago. It's the only album I now of
Namlook. Is it similar to his other work?

Agreed with merg. Air 1 is a very dreamy sort of ambience.
Air 2 is more busy, with more rhythm and melody than 1. Air
3 & 4 are more scattershot in song quality and not as
coherent, but still have their moments.

No, it's not that similar at all...the thing about PN is
that he rarely stays with the same style too long...he's
encompassed just about all forms of electronic music during
his career, and there's not many folks that can say
that...I'd recommend you check out any of the above
mentioned titles in this thread...they're basically all
quite a bit better than pp.nmlk....not to say I don't like a
bit of that when I'm in a certain mood of course!

Reference my comment the other day about how albums that
work as a whole are rare in this genre...even though there
are 4 in the Air series, the difference in structure between
the first two and the second two are extremely marked...the
question is why?

Deliberate? Just difficult to make great long-players?
