Matt Elliott-Drinking Songs

Anyways, this is a followup to The Mess We Made. An
extremely underexposed and brilliant album. Anybody who has
heard it knows what I am talking about. Everyone I suggested
the mess we made to, fell in love with it, so if you haven't
heard it, buy it or download it or whatever, cause its
beautifull. Its ageless and melancholic (I know that
resonates with emo/spumpkins gook, but its fitting in an
unpretentious manner for this album) and emotional and
honest.

Anyways, 'Drinking Songs' has just been released. I am
downloading it at the moment, but as soon as it shows up in
the nearby recordstore I am going to snatch it up. This is
the kind of music you need in a non-mp3 format, just so its
true rich personality is presented in a non-hissy format.

In conclusion, I think that if you do not try to track down
either of these albums, you are missing out, and will die a
poor, musically-malnourished life. Well, actually I haven't
heard the second one, but if its even a tenth as good as the
first one, then its going to be great.

--Respekt--

So, the new album isn't totally the masterpiece the mess we
made is, but still great.

Come on, people!!! Doesn't anybody here know this???

hmm, not nearly as good or versatile as the mess we made,
but still holds the same theme I guess. Theres a few tracks
that really shine.

Yeah. It has the same feel and style, but its not nearly as
dark and murky. He is doing less clever production as well,
like when he would do the backwards singing, or the guitar
that flowed backwards into itself forwards.

Its a concept album, methinks... the war ballads kind of
worsened the album, but their are three songs that would fit
perfectly on the mess we made. Still a worthwhile download
tho...

Actually, I didn't like the mess we made... and I have
everything he has ever produced before that... Well, I only
heard it a couple of times before I shelved it. I could
listen to it again but I have my doubts that I'll like it
more now...

You like the stuff he made before the mess we made
more that the mess we made? Cause I kinda tried
listening to everything else once, and just never bothered
after. Thats wierd. Everybody I have shown it to thinks its
a masterpiece.
