the credibility of value?

wheres best place to find out value/no. of rdj's vinyl
releases? and how credible is the value attached? it tends
to be relative to availability but surely there needs to be
demand?

Ebay sounds like a place to look if you want real value.

You could find a record collectors website, or a website for
a store that specializes in collectible albums and email
them for an appraisal of you collection.

Also, many dealers use The Rare Record Price Guide when estimating a
records value. You might find it in your local library.

cool mate.. thanks for that. what are those values based on?
have they sold for that or is purely potential?

I'm guessing it is an average of what prices the recods
fetch on auctions/in shops. The prices are valid for VG/Mint
condition records, but the grading conditions are written in
the preface, I think.

It is considered to be the most accurate index of rare
records, and most serious dealers base their price on it.

Ask me. I can tell you the average price any rdj records on
ebay, they fluxuate a reasonable amount but there are
distinct norms.. Just looking there won't really help you,
you need to track auctions until they finish. And the price
guide is really a joke for electronic music, It's only
moderately accurate for rock music which is it's speciality
really. You can also check GEMM although it's overpriced
usually and is a very, very slow way to sell. Ebay is the
standard I'd say.
Which records do you want to know the value of?

j4 - two (?)l issues, the first has a black label (2000
copies apparently), there is a later yellow label version
also. Value c.£25-40 depending on condition and issue.

j5 - depends slightly whether it's white or black vinyl, i
actually think the black is rarer. But anyway - around
£25-40 depending on condition/colour.

j9 - depends on a few things. the picture disc (j9i) sells
regularly for £100 or slightly more. Then It gets confusing
- the regular release (j9ii)has two or three version, one
with orange label text, one with green/yellow ir the t-shirt
label text. both (i think..) came in a cardboard mailer and
had candy inside, 'magic gum' or 'fizz wiz' (and i heard
also 'space dust' in some..). The price will depend greatly
on the condition, which issue and whether the packaging is
included, and whether it still has the candy. One had a
t-shirt included. I don't know whether the t-shirt and candy
were in the same package at all.. Just the record alone in
excellent condition would probably make £20. with the
mailer and the candy a lot more.. you don't see them w/
candy often, i would say £50, at the very least.. certainly
more w/ the t-shirt.

AB1 has three issues, MF01 was the first, on Mighty Force,
it's rare as with that cat no (etched in the run out), £50
at least in ex or better condition. it was remastered later
as MF201 (1000 copies, apprently) this is not so rare,
averages around the £20 mark. There's a US reissue too, on
TVT, that's worth about £5.

AB3 was originally issued in a brown paper bag, with an a4
flyer stating 'places of interest in cornwall', in ex
condition with all packaging i think it's probably worth
around £25. I always think that should be worth more (there
have been reissues of these tracks, AB 3.1 - c.£10, and the
AB3 2x12 LP, around £25.

The Mike Flowers remix, probably around £20.

Wow, you really know your Ebay well. How about that
Incunabula 2x12" silver edition? It's something I would
really like to get my hands on as I've just got the normal
black vinyl version.

Autechre values i don't know well enough.

Most valuable Aphex vinyl

Analogue Bubblebath X - ???? never seen it for sale, maybe
£500

Analoge Bubblebath 5 - never released, a few are around
£400 at least

Q-chastic - Q- chastic - never released rephlex double set
(CAT002), 100 copies only apparently.. never seen it on
sale, £250 at least I'd imagine.

Analord 10 binder + Record - £150 -£200..

Universal Indicator Green set (12" 10" + 7" in rephlex
carrier bag) - £100-£130. May ot my not be RDjs work..

Joyrex J9 picture disc - £100

Original issue of Analogue Bubblebath 1 - £50++

Hanglable Autobulb 2 - c £50 (sold 2 weks ago for £200
though..)

Analogue Bubblebatrh Vol2. on Rabbit City -£40-60

Hangable Autobulb 1 c. £35-45

Universal Indicator Red, Blue, Yellow c. £25-40 depending.
Supposedly only red is aphex. Much debate about the others.

That about covers the main ones i think..
