 | damn, this guys are awesome..and their discography is huge!!
basically rock oriented stuff, but with every possible sound
imaginable..sounds like improvisation type of music..i
thought it was sort of weird compilation thingy at first
since the songs are so various..fantastic stuff!

 | definitely interesting dudes... i'm still sort of getting into their stuff... have a bunch of albums on the computer,
but i haven't quite connected with any of them yet... but
yeah, they have a weird series called Carnival Folklore
Ressurection, which is truly strange... perhaps that's where
your album is from? check out 98.6 is death if you
haven't... it's messed... i have lots of their stuff in my
shared, if you're interested... oh yeah, plus Sublime
Frequencies is their undertaking, and it's super
 interesting...

much all i've been listening to lately. that 98,6 has some
fantasitc stuff on it!! weird you find hard to get into, i
thought it'd be right up your alley.

 | i've heard of this band many times, but i haven't heard their music before... i listened to the "web exclusives"
mp3's and i don't like those much at all.

i tried to play the .ra files but they aren't working for me
at the moment. what do you recommend listening to on this
 page?

 | their discography is huge, but i'd say those web exclusives can give you a pretty good idea of their general sound..

 3 more songs here

 more info about their releases

here's a big essay about them

more samples (that 'unplayable' song is fantasitc btw,
gets totally wicked towards the end..)

 | yes, it's a real nice song, definitely much more to do with real music, but i sort of prefer that raw, minimalist, odd
 improvisations at the time :)

'radio one' is perhaps my fav album of theirs in case
someone else is willing to give then a try :D

 | haha, didn't you recommend me black flag couple of days ago? :)

"Rick: (It was) opening for Black Flag. We came out with a
weird jazz approach to a bunch of skinheads. They absolutely
hated us, started throwing things at us. We ended up getting
most of the skinheads on stage with us playing horns by the
end of the night... They were bad- mouthing us over the
mikes while they were onstage, telling the audience how bad
we sucked... At first they were against us, then they were
for us. We didn't give a shit what they thought."

 | The Sun City Girls are America's premier underground band. No qualifiers such as "arguably" or "possibly" are
necessary. For going on 20 years now they have steadily,
relentlessly amassed a body of work that is simply without
peer or precedent in American music, "rock" or otherwise.
Their ouevere encompasses a dizzying array of styles,
genres, and influences, yet no bands' music is more
completely and distinctly their own. In their live and
recorded performances, they have challenged and explored the
implications of such anachronisms as "art," "beauty,"
"humor," "culture," "reality" and "bullshit" in ways that
none of today's artists in any field can even imagine. While
the bumper stickers on every other Volvo encourage us to
"subvert the dominant paradigm" and every other
punk-funk-ska-swing band insist that they are "into all
kinds of music," the Sun City Girls take these and many
other kinds of ideological and aesthetic statements, push
them to their conclusions, and reap the attendant rewards of
obscurity, confusion and ridicule. Apparently they believe
 that somebody has to

 | yes, and black flag also had a lot of trouble with their audiences. they didn't like the traditional "punk rocker"
at all. that's why they grew out their hair and started
playing jazzy metal and had these weird opening bands - to
piss off the annoying skinheads who would come to their
 concerts.
