i plan on buying these because i can have them brand new
for 285 €, which seems like a total bargain...

anyway, i know that they aren't exactly monitoring
speakers
due mainly to their sound coloration and
probably other thing too...
but i would like to know your opinion on this, knowing i'll
buy better ones in the long run anyway (probably mackie or
jbl...) when i'll have more money to throw.

for now i just need something doing the job in a
small/medium sized room without costing me too much, but i
don't want to spend 280€ on something i'll regret for 1 or
2 years...

so tell me what do you think of them and/or what else would
you recommend, thanks a lot!

I was planning on buying these about a month ago. Ive never
heard them before but the best thing to do would be to bring
a cd with a not-so-good mixed song and a really well mixed
song on it. Then test the speakers and if the not-so-good
song sounds like total shit and the well mixed sounds
amazing then get them. however I ended up getting the KRK
v6 Series 2 monitors. They are so fucking great! KRK is the
shitz

good call, i heard many wonders about them...
unfortunately they are out of my price range at twice the
2030a's price for ONE speaker! :(

it sucks that i don't have a bit more money to buy these
now, or fostex's mp1

anyone got any suggestions?

yeah don't get the 2030s...if somebody is charging 285 for
one you can tell them to shove it up their ass...they cost
300 for two.

and secondly, go with the 2031s they are way better and way
nicer...but really fuck behringer...the 2031s are nice and
sound really good, but everything else behringer makes is
complete shit.

go buy some used alesis monitor ones and a cheapo power
amp...that'll cost ya like 150.

well no, it is 285 for the pair, the v6 are like 400+ for
one but they are way better off course
the alesis monitor one arnt that nice imo but second hand
speakers might be a better aproach indeed

on the subject of behringer (should be a topic on its own
:D) i think since a few years they do some quality stuff but
nothing outstanding. some products does indeed suck, but
they have many cheap/good thing for the amateur or beginer
imo

:D i should have done that in the first post,thanks...

you can see they are 338€ for belgium tax included, that
is a 53€ reduction that the shop is doing me.

but maybe i'll spare a little more to get the 2031a's, more
bass and a cleaner sound apparently, but i won't have the
big reduction so i don't know still...

nobody knows of an obscure brand? because i probably know of
all the classic choices for that price now.

i found a pair of alesis monitor one (i think it's the
passive one) for 130€

i don't know which one is the better choice considering i'll
have to buy an amp matching the alesis, and i don't know
what specification to look appart from the power, dunnon
what the total costr will be either...

help me! :D

ps: there is also a pair of jbl 4412a (passive), these are
199€ which seems like nothing...

i would recommend the Fostex PM1's. I listened to a lot of
monitors and these were ,to my ears, the best (also liked
the krk's but found them a little top endy). Behringer make
crap, highly coloured, easily broken, monitors.
Fostex Pm1's

active monitors have a built in amp, passive monitors don't.

the m-audio bx5's are a good set of cheaper active
monitors.

they're £179.99 GBP (that's about 260 EUR) on this
particular site.

thanks all...

the fuckers at cash converters had already sold the alesis
and the jbl (it was two different shop) without removing the
ad from the site! i hate them for giving me false hopes...

modular: these are the ones i would like if i had more
money, but maybe i'll buy them one at a time. :D

mylittlesister: that's cheap in fact, but they probably
don't have much bass due to the 5" woofer, but it's an
option indeed, i should listen to all these in the same room
to form an opinion.

on active monitoring:click!

note that i read some papers about the advantages of passive
monitors but i can't find them for now.
mackie is probably too biased toward the active solution.

mixing there as well. i want to have those, but
