This unknown anime kicks serious ass. I just watched it
last night for the first time in years and now I remember
why i bought it on 3 vhs, and a few minutes ago again on
DVD. (btw, if anyone wants my vhs let me know)
Originally made in '94, its a visual masterpiece. Everything
from the arcitecture of the buildings, to the weapons and
vehicles. Although it takes place in a futuristic setting,
everything is very imaginitive and creative with a
'nature/tribal' like feel to everything.

I give it a 9/10 overall, because although they had
appropriately matched the american voices to the characters,
I felt that the voice actors were a bit too stiff at times,
but they seem to get more comfortable with their characters
as the episodes go on. I cant tell if some of the dialogue
is intentionally funny, or just stiffly translated, but I
laughed a few times at parts I maybe shouldn't have.

The music aint bad either. I'm NOT a fan of j-pop or stupid
japanese pop crap but this music does not make me
angry! In fact its quite chill and the only japanese vocals
is at the beginning and end of each VHS [i dunno about dvd
yet] but its quite nice and appropriate and no silly
japanese mixed with english vocals like trying to be hip.

If you want to know more about the plot do a search, I dont
want to give away anything.

Yeah, I remember liking Iria a lot back when I was younger.
It has been years since I've last seen it, but I remember
SCI-FI channel would have a Anime block every Saturday in
which they would play one movie. I caught Iria a few times
on there, perhaps I'll go track down the DVD on Ebay.

Thats exactly how i found out about it. I always cought
parts of it and was impressed, so I ended up getting it.
Good 'ol saturday morning anime. I got the dvd for about $10
on amazon. I didn't bother with ebay because I'm impatient.
:\

$10 from amazon....I may just do that. Perhaps I'll grab
Tenchi Muyo in Love on DVD while I'm at it. And yep yep,
Saturday morning Anime was great, it definitely helped make
the transition from kid-oriented anime shows to more I guess
teen-adult anime movies. I remember about 2 years ago or
so, SCI-FI out of nowhere showed Green Legend Ran again
early in the morning at like 2 or 3. I just remember
randomly surfing and there it was starting up and this was a
good few years after they stopped the Saturday Morning
block.

Unknown? I thought it was one of the more famous ones? I
kind of forgot about this one. I actually like it. So I
guess I have liked 2 animes I have seen; cowboy bebop and
this.

Yeah its kinda unknown since I never see anyone talk about
it. Maybe because its older, but goddamn. Those who have
seen it really like it, so I cant say its underated... or
can I?
Cowboy Bebop is awesome too.
