Fuck me, look at this:
Scary.
Does this mean that it's now dangerous to take a laptop out with some pirate MP3s on to DJ? 2,000 files isn't very many at all, and a fine in millions of Euros?
Shite....!

Who cares if he owns them or not?
Clubs pay a license for playing music anyway, so the music industry was still making money.
He only had 2,000 files! And there's no evidence that he was sharing them!
The fine is absolutely preposterous. Armed robbers and murderers aren't even treated as harshly as this......
We should organise a boycott day, where no-one buys music as a protest.

he won't pay so much. it's just for the media, like it has been several times in US of A.
How can a person pay 1.4*106 new european money. Even if one sells his soul, he won't gather this amount.

He was probably fined so much for the reason that you would get a hefty fine for playing an unlicenced video in a venue with a lot of people.

The police raided a nightclub as part of a crackdown on.... piracy? What? If he truly is a "well known" DJ then 1.4 million euros was probably his fee for the night. It must be something that the nightclub owner's dodgy and the police want to fuck him over.

No, because it's not illegal to have mp3s in a personal setting. It is because he played them in public and got paid for doing do.

I don't know the Royalty situation with that - I expect it would be a similar set-up as they have with radio stations.

Why are people acting like this is a martyr ? These fuckers get paid enough, they can afford to buy their records rather than using mp3s, which are an inferior quality! He was playing everyone for a foo' and he got burnt!
