Ok-

I thought I would go back and listen to the entire Autechre
catalog while I was stuck inside during the rain today.
Someone want to explain how "Blifil" on Peel Session 2
(which is probably a 6 year old track) is better than
anything on this entire Untilted bullshit version leak
floating around.

Look, I'm not one of those people who needed Confield,
Gantz_Graf, etc. to grow on them. I fucking get it. I got
it from day one. who cares. I like the newer shit much
more even. But there is no way in god's name anyone can
convince me that this "new" album exemplifies anything more
technically proficient then what is on this little ep that
came out 5 years ago.

It been a few months since I've listened to this record and
there is absolutely no comparission. I'm still not
convinced that what is floating around is real.

Here's to the new Autechre - purveyors of CIDM!

hah, as if they care about what any of us is thinking about
comparisons of their new and old tracks. its all a matter of
opinion, like Bukem once said.

so they can feel special and buy it because it is a hell lot
more expensive to buy cds in japan :D
no i don't know in fact...

-

as for the suposed untilted leak (leak n°1) i stopped
listening to it 2 weeks ago, i'll just wait for the official
leak of the official cd!
i'll be buying it if it fits my taste off course...

i must say that some songs i liked quite much on that leak,
wether they be ae or mira calix old songs or anything
electronic, some of them had really good atmosphere.

with the memory i have i would have forgot all of it if it
was bland or bad! :D:D:D

I especially like the last bit:

"Here's to the new Autechre - purveyors of CIDM!
Counter-Intelligent DillyDally Meandering"

it's like one of those unfunny jokes 48-year-old women make
at the end of an awful "To The Editor"-letter.

Yes, but he has a point.

It is meandering rubbish, and it does sound like EP7 and
Peel Session2.

Thank you CS2x.
Oh, and qrter... I have more where that came from.

As for my post I compared PeelSession2 to the bullshit leak
only, nothing official. You're the ones going around saying
its real, not me.
I'm just giving a reason why it might NOT be.

and yes, opinions are just that.

blifil isnt that great of a track, and every thing on
untilted sounds better than it.

but i think untilted is better than draft 7.30 and peel
session 2 (along with other things) both from a
compositional standpoint and a productional one.

i fail to see also how "meandering" would get into this.
you could claim that for just about any autechre if you
looked into it enough. but id rather enjoy the tracks?

offline Bob Mcbob on 2005-02-23 10:13 [#01509638]

if you dont like the album because you are comparing it to
earlier work...

do you think you would like it if this was the first
autechre you've ever heard?

offline CS2x from London (United Kingdom) on 2005-02-23 10:15 [#01509641]

I don't mind meandering if it's good meandering which turns
me on (like a lot of Autechre.)

I think it's the production that puts me off this (and put
me off Draft too actually.) Confield sounded stunning, but
these last two feel a little bare. Just my opinion.

definitely. confield's my favorite, and beats the pants off
of both for me at least!

i still enjoy untilted a good deal though

i think it's not prematurely to conclude autechre have gone
sucky

I listened to Confield twice last night.
Nearly a masterpiece and by far my favorite album of
theirs.

As for your question, if I was to hear this (or Confield)
before any of their other music, or if either were their
actual first releases, yes I would still enjoy them and
perhaps even have greater aspirations for the future of
their music (and perhaps music in general). Why? We
wouldn't have to go around referencing "the old school" or
how we "got there." We would just be going.

Real or not, this Untilted "leak" goes no where. But I must
admit it sits still quite nicely, if thats what you're into.

how can you compare draft and confield, they are nothing
like each other - just based on production alone, they are
very different - confield is very polished and lush - which
lets face it, any album where an artist makes it sound that
polished and produces a+ sound, its going to be lush
sounding. that was intentional

draft sounded more muddy, and grimey - and i think it was
done intentionally also, draft was more an lp version of
gantz graf, with muddy productions, more beats orientated.
the tracks had dancier beats. where as confield was more of
an ambient melody / unfinished beats lp.

i wanna hear Untilted so bad, but i am restraining myself.

I think I am going to stop listening to it, but continue to
participate in active debates for the sake of listening to
myself type. I really enjoy loud intricate percussion with
near vacant (or devoid) melodies.

Hmmm... that 'sounds' familiar

It'll be weird if the real tracks are different, My brain's
already associated the track titles with these mp3s and it
don't like change.
