Tangerine Dream

I've just been listening to old Tangerine Dream records,
such as Paedra, Alpha Centuri, Zeit, Stratosfear, Rubycon,
Richochet and Atem.
Although this band went downhill during the 80s and 90s,
those early records have been giving me some of the most
amazing experiences of music listening in recent times.
Perhaps many of you would disagree, but I think the quality
of a lot of this ambient music puts SAW1 and 2 to shame
(even though it was created in the late 60s and 70's.)

Check their early material out!

Phaedra is awesome. My old art teacher in high school made
me a tape of it after an in-depth discussion of the orb one
rainy lunchtime. And yeah, their early stuff is excellent,
there's an mp3 of "genesis" from 1970 here. They
did turn to shit from around 78-79 onwards though.

Nah, Richochet came out in 1978 and I love that record to
bits, it's SUCH a trip.

But yeah, it's a shame they went downhill.

They all captured my imagination.

I heard one live-album that was decent. The only thing is
that Tangerine Dream reeks of long-haired 40+ men hanging
out at record-fairs babbling about their collection of rare
prog records... On the other hand this might be the future
some of us are destined to have, only change prog with
warp/skam/rephlex. :)

I will give it a chance some day, I promise.

Yeah you should let image get in the way of good music imo.
I couldn't care less what genre this music is, or what kind
of people generally listen to it, or associations with prog
rock (which I don't mind too much anyway.)

You'll like it if you like SAWII, I promis you! (Well, some
of it)

Hehe, posing ain't a crime sonny :)

Actually, I'm not feeling most of the progstuff, but I'm a
sucker for that 60/70s moog'd out stuff so I know I'll enjoy
Tangerine Dream, but they just haven't moved up the
priority-queue yet. I'll get there eventually.
