couple of songs from "everything is wrong" were ok but most
of it didn't really hit me...

yeah i agree Ubik.
if u have a record deal ur a sell out. granted some do it
out of neccessity and some do it shamelessly either way i
don't care how many commercials/ads u make if ur musik is
good i'll like it if its shit its well.. shit. (i don't
have to personally like a person's persona to like their
music. ie marilyn manson)

a bad person doing a beneficial act - is that act rendered
meaningless because of the person's bad nature?

nope
the artist's morals shouldn't be used in judging the art he
or she created

all in all, i just don't like his music and how he puts it
out in the world through commercial when he says that his
music is very personal to him

if something is so personal, then why do you put it in car
commercials

Moby is soldout in recent times. However he never was too
experimental, maybe a little bit angry when he was younger.
Now he is not even angry.

I don't like any of Moby's music I've heard, but I could
care less if he sells it. That's his choice and there is
nothing wrong with it. I wouldn't do it to my music, but
why should others hold back from doing so? Man wants some
cash, he should go for it.

I think alot of people started to hate Moby because he was
accepted by mainstream culture...I think most Aphex fans
love the fact that not everyone has heard of RDJ and they
want it to stay that way (which is probably
better)...therefore, many people seem to hate Moby because
their "simpler" friends like him....Im not saying people on
this MB are like this.....but certain people I know...

Moby just got lucky with Play, and now he is having an ego
trip. Moby almost ruined his career. If he wanted to "sell
out" the easy way he would have jumped on the progressive
house bandwagon or made some trance-y indian shit or played
the piano (..err).

you guys are just annoyed at his B.S. "i'm a goofy asshole
idiot" media image he has created and portrays. RDJ has
also created and fostered, intentionally or unintentionally,
a bigger than life image, though one that is more likeable.

so how can an artist make a living and not sell out? Fatboy
Slim sold one of his songs for a Chevy commercial, probably
one of the crappiest cars sold in western civilization.
probably thought it was funny, having a bunch of football
rednecks hearing his song on football sundays, or maybe he
didnt even know... just took the check and had some fun.

Except Aphex Twin isnt underground at all. So far from it.

Because someone goes into the public spotlight and eats it
up is an ok reason to not like them, as long as it changes
their image or especially musical ways... I like unknown
indie groups and I enjoy big well known artists.. thats not
the point, i Just dont like his stuff.

whoring a talent for cash makes me hate the music, i ain't
got no bones about saying that - the music sprang from
"sucking satan's pecker" as bill hicks would have put it -
it cheapens the music - call me a communist, but pandering
to corporations, even using some lame excuse like you're
"playing the system", "laughing at them as you take their
money" &tc, (it is not THEIR money being taken - it is joe
public's money) just makes me mad as hell, and i'm not gonna
take it anymore! :P

but then i loathe the whole concept of money and capitalism,
and find it immensely sad that we, the self-proclaimed most
intelligent being ever to be crapped out of mother nature's
anal passages, can't help each other unless we get a buck
out of it.

---end of lecture--- X:D

GO was good...a anthem over here in the UK..those Twin Peaks
chords still send a E shiver down my spine...

And I really like a remix of his track....can't recall the
name, but it's got this woman saying "You make me feel so
good"...it's an ambient mix off one of the Trance Europe
Express albums(the first I think)...

And his Ambient album had some ok tracks on....one called
"The Sky Shudders...", lots of piano & rain noises...kinda
simple, but nice...

but yeah, his later stuff is just too wishy-washy and
bland....like watercolour painting by numbers....

I seem to recall that AFX was on tour in the states with M
back in the days...and RDJ used to rip the piss outta Moby
and his "Drugs?..Non! NON!" attitude...

As for the logo...

hmm...like those Arrows are used all over the place...45
degree design style...as someone said, it bites TDR more
than AFX...

Pretty much played to death nowadays...

Have you guys ever heard End of Everything? If you have,
you'd probably not think so badly of Moby

so i guess the moral of the story is that if something is
played out and bombarding your senses through many different
forms of media (radio, tv, commercial, movies); than it will
become boring to you. So I guess I cant dig Moby's sound
for it isn't going anywhere.

I cant stand all this new pop crap anymore. I cant even
turn on the radio with out hearing crap.

We need more great artists.

To the guy who said Aphex isnt in commercials:

Do you remember the Pirelli one with the Caustic Window
track "The Garden Of Linmiri" in it?

Come To Daddy was used in the movie 9MM and I regularly hear
Windowlicker used in MTV adverts here.

Some pop channel over here uses a bit of PEEK 824545201
too.

About Moby, I find that "My Weakness" gets played by me
quite regularly. I feel its a nice song actually... :)
