again, don't count pitchfork.
one that comes to mind is "Dark Side of the Moon" by Pink Floyd - that shit is SO over-rated...i don't even think it's a bad record - but i HATE it because of all the hype it's got. you see 13-year-old kids who have just discovered pot wearing a Dark Side t-shirt they probably picked up at some poseur black-market-type store...

opinion on other albums mentioned: -dark side of the moon is great (fuck hype, make up your own mind!)
-not everything is shit -come to daddy made the top 40...that was good! -rolling stones are good
thank you. good day.

whoa whoa don't get me wrong, i think Dark Side is good music, no doubt at all.
but i just hate everything else about it - the statement it makes to young kids, like "i'm cool because i'm listening to Floyd"...the image has just gotten into the wrong hands...
and yes, the Rolling Stones FUCKING SUCK.

I used to wear a Pink Floyd The Wall t-shirt when I was a teenager, not because I wanted to be a poser, but because I was heavily into them. Your theory is bollox. In my area, you can get a kickin for cuttin aboot in a Floyd T-shirt. It's hardly cool
You should slag twats who wear Gap stuff, not music t-shirts!

it's cool to sport the gear if you know it - but my little sister has exposed me to people who just wear the shit to be "cool".

Radiohead, totally overrated in my humble opinnion.
and something more recent, sorry, I don't liked analord 1-4 (10 was ok) most of the times I felt like I was going nowhere listening to them... all the money from the fans involved in the BINDER TRICK... I can't stop thinking in Richard evil trick, now he is sure most of the people with the binder will have to buy the other 9 vinyls just to have the complete collection, fucking easy cash masterplan ever!!, and that becomimg from a supossed favorite artist... thats really really disappointing and sad :(
but this life is too short to hate, so better I don't have in mind that I hate that stuff and everything is solved
or should I prepare for more deceptions this year?
sorry, I'm too sad, good night everybody :(

music isn't, no. but then again, we don't buy CD's because we like music. we buy them because we like art. and i'd expect that someone who sports gear for an album should know the track titles! it's not much to ask!
and if you don't buy CD's because you like art, but just music, then you might as well buy those cheesy 70's rock compilations by Time Life.

Neto - Everything you have said is true. Probably the most I have agreed with anyone on this message board. Ive been trying really hard to like the new Analords, but something isnt clicking with them for some reason. I kinda dig 10 but at certain points of each song I think he could have thought of better directions to go in. As for radiohead, i feel like i know why people love this band so much, but for some reason i dont know why. haha...wow what a shitty point.

Sgt Pepper does kind of suck. Its recognised as being the pinnacle of Beatle experimentation, but I'd say White Album, Revolver, Abbey Road and Magical Mystery Tour are all better.
It needs more Lennon enthusiasm.

even though i think they are talented and pretty much everything can be attributed to them - the beatles
some nine inch nails, but i like most boards of canada - iam really not into them, they sound to tame and milky
hail to the thief by radiohead, but everything else is good bjork, almost all of her stuff, cant really get into it i hate categorizing stuff, but all of the new retro punk a la the white stripes, the strokes, franz ferdinand, the hives, the vines etc.

wakisan , well, I need to confess and be honest again: gradually I started to like those Analord ep's (1-4)
that occured listening to them using headphones (and being really relaxed) while I was reading the post that Richard wrote at the Planet µ forum... Now I feel really ashamed for my previous post. In my case I recognize that I must be in a special mood for apreciate them, just that.
the opinnion about Radiohead remains intact.

I know what a landmark album Sgt Peppers is for pop music, the production does sound magical, I've read books on it and heard it hundreds of times probably.
But when it comes down to it, I prefer the songs on other albums. Lovely Rita, Shes Leaving Home, Within You Without You, When I'm Sixty-Four and Good Morning Good Morning are sub-standard Beatle songs, all the members have done far better. Good Morning Good Morning was a song about John not being arsed to write songs properly for fucks sake.
