[mp3]frank zappa - the best radio show you ever heard in your life

BBC1 show zappa did in 1980, brilliant stuff.. he plays a
crazy array of music, as you can imagine (from
varese/stravinsky [of course] to doo-wop [naturally] to
sweet home alabama to crazy japanese electropop)

2 hours of goodness. plus, some guy's remastered it - only
about 4 of the songs are from the original recording, the
rest he's put in as good quality mp3s with zappa introducing
them all.

his commentary is very very interesting - he plays some
music by the GTOs (a dance troupe that he had on Bizarre
Records in the late 60s) and also Wildman fisher - a
homeless man who had very violent tendencies (he tried to
kill his mother once - and zappa tells another very
interesting story about this man, in his own comical way, on
the show) whose music zappa also put out on bizarre
records...

well worth the download :)

enjoy!

moved. if you;re using the yousendit link and it runs out of
bandwidth i'll upload it somewhere for you (i know very well
the pain of unfinished downloads on 56k.. :)

hope the rest of you enjoy this stuff :)

I don't know bout that zappa guy. I find it hard to find
brilliance in singing about pee once per album. Specially in
the way he does it.

But he was certainly prolific.

i don't think much of his songs either. but there's
certainly true genius in hot rats, waka/jawaka, and the
grand wazoo [dominantly instrumental albums]. give them a
try.

there are some songs with very good lyrics, imo. but then,
songs like dina moe hum don't have a lot of goodness in
them, lyricwise...
