this may be old news or just total bullshite, but I just
read this here.

"On this occasion, the capable pushers of switches are
µ-Ziq, an imaginative young duo, one of whom plays Double
Bass. The other is a noted arranger and conductor..."

so was tango n' vectif a collaborative effort between Mike
P. and someone else (double bass? maybe squarepusher?)?

I appologize if this is old news/widely known.

From an interview I found in the booklet of the compilation
Trance Europe Express 3

In 1992, I met Fran and we made loads of music together.
I've got 450 tracks on DAT and loads on four-track. He's
gone back to Wales to play in a funk band

Francis Naughton wrote most of Tango N'Vectif, then left.
Which is probably why it's better than all the subsequent
muziq albums. He apparently couldn't work with Mike
Paradinas any longer due to Mike's unpleasant personality.

I hope that's true as I could never work out why Tango
N'Vectif sounds 8,000,000 times better than any subsequent
releases. These are my top ten µ-ziq releases.

1. Tango N'Vectif
2. Phi*1700 (U/V)
3. A couple of tracks on Lunatic Harness
4. There aren't any more releases.

My Top 11 Worst µ-ziq (or other MP alias) releases:

1. Bluff Limbo (what a pile of shit, 2 CDs worth)
2. The Auteurs Vs µ-Ziq (I love Auteurs, I loved Tango
N'Vectif, what the fuck is this abortion? Even Indie Dance
is better than this muddles, lo-fi tom fuckery)
3. Makes a racket _ Jake Slazenger (Yes, you fucking do)
4. Ja Isnt ein groovy beat (Fucking horrible)
5. In Pine Effect (Roy Castle is good, then it goes on 10
minutes too long, like every other track that has a bit of
promise, I don't think there's one µ-Ziq track where I
think "Christ, that's far too short, and you didn't make the
drums go all wanky at the end or anything, or overdoe the
noodling keyboard")
6. Urmur Bile Trax Volume 1 (vile)
7. Urmur Bile Trax Volume 2 (vile)
8. Salsa With Mesquite (vile)
9. Spatula Freak - Kid Spatula (Couple of good tracks but
far too much wankery)
10. Bantha Trax - Tusken Raiders - (Fuck me, tribal idm)
11. Shaped To Make Your Life Easier - Gary Moscheles - (Fuck
you)
