Released in the year of our lord 2000, this little album is rather nifty, i must say. Fans of the more melodic end of EAI and drone stuff would like it, i think... there's a very organic, human texture to most of the stuff on there despite the minimal / repetetive nature of the compositions. It's like a little musical hug.
Some samples are up at amazon, but i'm buggered if i'm going to install realplayer just to check if they work or not. Apparently a couple of members also work as "Bird Show", who've released some stuff on brent gutzeit's label. There's an mp3 here but i've not heard it yet so for all i know it could be a pile of shit.
ANYWAY. I compel ye to seek out this album, it's excellent and ace-cool.

i just listened to the samples...
hindeburg seems like great spring music. i liked that a lot. but the other ones seem a bit too melancholy and didn't really interest me.

They are kind of melancholy in places, yeah. I'm not usually one for the "You've got to listen to it as a whole, you just don't GET IT YET, MAAAAAN" school of thought, but the songs really unfold over their (rather extended) length. I doubt the samples do them justice for some reason. The end of "hat versus hood" is especially beautiful.

i'm sure that's true - i took that into consideration. i would definitely have to hear the full tracks to make any real judgement...
but even if the hindeburg track just repeats the same pattern, i would listen to it for an hour - i have that much patience. the other samples didn't do that for me - i don't have an opinion on them.
thanks for the post about it, though!

apparently the dude (Ben Vida) behind Town and Country is also the dude behind The Bird Show, there is a brand new album out called Green Inferno on Kranky under this name... haven't heard it yet, but i have heard very good things about it...
and also, if you live on the east coast of the states: Keith Fullerton Whitman was saying on this other board that he's gonna be doin' a tour with Greg Davis and The Bird Show at some point in the near future, so keep your eyes open...

I'd never heard of bird show before making a few investigations for this thread, but them being on kranky and all, my interest was piqued. Now i've had time to download and listen, that mp3 i linked to sounds excellent, quite psychedelic and anxious-sounding. Very different from "it all has to do with it". 192 bitrate too!
Shame i'm in sunny old england, it's a long way to travel for a gig.
