It's my latest/last effort, i spent quite a while on it. I
think it's the sound of a gentleman living in 2005 but with
his brain suspended in 1992.

Awesome I have remixed it here. It sounds
basically the same as it was an enjoyable track.

I dunno what to say about the actual track actually. It was
enjoyable. I liked it a lot actually, and it did have that
whole retro charm about it. Nice.

yeh I'm getting that vibe :P

nice track. however I think the beats should have come in a
little sooner. or not. why should they come in sooner?
what's wrong with me?

Possibly the percussion could have been developed a bit
later on in the track. I liked the pads and atmosphere. I
don't even know about the percussion...it is pretty cool the
way it is...I would be tempted to fiddle with it
myself...but I don't know if that would be for the best or
not.

Having a brain suspended in 1993, I think it sounds like 92,
which is a good thing. After listening to it I feel
refreshed and realize that I have to listen to Ambient Dub
1-3 and the New Electronica compilations once again, it's
been far too long.

ecnadniarb: the remix you did is just as good as the
original.

Thank you both for rounding off a great day in downloading
history.

Thanks for the sage (and onion) words of encouragement, and
advice. Beats, they're just not my forté, and in this field
of music, I know that's a real non-starter. I'm just not a
beat-person, I have no rhythm, I like atmos. I'd love to get
someone into do all Windowlickery slippery beats with the
whhooo scratch pitch-down mad skillz. One day, maybe.

Thanks for your ear-time!

Ha ha, that farmer in the field track is really good!!! Oh a
grim day has become quite the jolly day after all!

Oh yes, this is very nice, and quite an evocative title if i
may say so. A lovely little melodic opening, and just
because the beats don't have a spastic, post-ironic mullet,
wanky hoxton breaks flavour doesn't make them any less
enjoyable. It's good stuff.

You just listed my favourites right there!

Higher Intelligence Agency ought to get the recognition they
deserve. Reform is a seminal piece of early imaginative
electronic music and ought to be namedropped more often. But
I guess life aint nothin' but glitches and money these days.

vlari: Exactly, the mighty HIA, Speed learn...., I
can't help but feel music went a bit wrong along the way. I
listen to those tracks and think, whilst some are a bit
niaive or whatever, they had the air of ambition and
greatness, and scope, and something unclassifiable. I'm so
up for ditching all my record post-95.

scup: Noone's ever said "I love it" to me, about
anything, I'm a bit teary now, Scuppers, old boy, teary.

Its very well produced, and the textures and dimensions are
good, but it could use some chord changes combined with some
new progression to really make it interesting.

I think the drums are the bit that needs work, the rest of
it is excellent. Its just when the drums come in the whole
atmosphere loses it's impact a little.

I like the smooth little analog blips and bloops that
flutter all portamento-like in a few places.

I like the way the resonant guitar feedbacky thing that
could be a table saw cutting marble is mixed just perfectly,
not too loud and grating or too distant and ineffective.

Maybe that Eb Eb Eb Eb C riff is repeated too often. Aside
from that, great atmosphere and production.

enjoyable trek

Thanks to everyone's ears for listening, and I appreciate
the suggestions, more work needed on the beats I think,
something maybe a bit more elastic, a bit of push and pull,
dynamics, WOOOAH!

And of course get Liz Fraser in to sing over the end
"chorusy" bit. Or Bjork, I'm not fussed really.

Big: Thanks for the incredibly faint praise bordering
on derision.

no i was just pretending i wasnt born yet then
erm, criticism wise i'd say it's short and sounds like it's
one track out of a collage that explores these sounds, just
like your last album

I was planning on making a pointless, pseudo-intelligent
comment like you always do in my music threads but I changed
my mind.

I liked the track. sounded a bit like Ulrich schnauss.
but you should make the drums go on a bit longer because you
loose a bit of the flow when you suddenly stop with the
drums.
or instead of stopping the drums you could use other forms
of percussion or whatever.

Good, I like it once the drums really come in (the second
time). Nice work.

I listened to the original and to Lee's first remix. I liked
what there was, but thought it should have been extended and
developed. I like the beats, even though they aren't your
"forté" [sic].

Nice.

Thanks for more ears, I am working on the percussion/drums
and I liked some of the suggestions made by better ears than
mine, but I won't subject it on anyone until the late
future.

isnieZot I never make "pseudo-intelligent
comment(s)
" in your threads, though I may grant you the
"pointless". I strive to only offer up intellectually
rigorous postulations and tagential observances based on
palpable untruths. Anyway, you started it by saying you were
taking the piss out of all musical forms, or something. Yes,
I'm saying "you started it", like a child might, a miffed
child on the verge of hot tears stininging its thwarted
features.

I feel bad about writing forté and not forte though, that
was pretentious of me.

Cool! There is a lot of good with this track.

Here are my random thoughts:

1. I really like the sounds you chose to use. It really
turned out quite well when they all worked together.

2. The length of this song (IMO) is perfect. It didnt go too
long where i found myself wondering when it would end. At
the same time it was too short where i would find myself
looking for you to do an extended version. Great length!

3 As the track progressed there were nice changes that added
variety. It was paced very well.

overall i liked this track! :)

Thanks for sharing!

Concerning our little chat over HIA, I felt a bit sad over
the fact that they just don't make stuff like that anymore.
So I found it best to articulate my feelings with a little
dj-mix this evening. I had a little scavenger-hunt trough
my collection and found lots of gems that I put together.
The rule was: No track shall be post 96. I will post it
tomorrow, and I hope you'll enjoy it.
