hmm.. you should check it more closely before.. the rubber
band may be dry and cracked, which is bad.. he may never
have oiled the motor, and stuff like that... I've always
preferred new stuff myself, but if you're getting used,
check everything that could be broken through wear before
buying since the laws are different for used stuff...

project audio
picture

i have seen this thing in action a few times and it seems
pretty wicked... for leisure listening, anyhow... it
insanely spartan... and elegant like, and if i'm not
mistaken, it's pretty cheap too...

it's manual in just about every sense of the word... no
annoying tone-arm lifty function (excuse the technical
terms... i'm sure if you go to school for six years you will
figure out what i am talking about)... the stylus is
gorgeous... it's belt drive, but the belt is easily
accessible... you actually have to adjust the belt by hand
in order to switch from 33 to 45...

i'm willing to wager this thing would hold up for a very
very long time...

the reason why automatics bug me so much is that i really
dig lock grooves... there are some artists who actually put
effort into making them cool sounding, and i like to have
them running as a base when i'm noodling about in a live
setting... furthermore the more automatic parts you have,
the more things there are to break...

don't forget about the clearausios, though.. they have some
more reasonably priced tables other than the master
reference.. *starts to drool* mmmmmaster reference...

I know what you mean. I had a shitty Fisher turntable way
back, and I disabled the automatic "return arm" mechanics of
it cause I wanted to hear the locked run-out groove on
Keynell.
