why downloading music is great

My little portable player hit that part of teartear where
(rhymere) the US version has the two second hole. When I was
listening to a stolen copy this didn't happen =P

I am able to download and listen to fragments of thousands
of songs rather than listening to hundreds of entire songs

'many, if not all, pressings of this us version contain a
defect in the audio of track 11 - teartear. this is an
unintentional production error and is not present in the uk
warp pressing'

from the discography

sneakattack, you could buy the uk version and it would have
the same result :)

thanks.
that's weird, I have the US version and have never noticed
anything. I will have to break it out again and
doublecheck..

yeah i always run into it and i've wondered whether its on
the UK pressing.

this totally sucks, i want to get the UK version now.

I'm too tired to check the exact location, but a whole mass
of pressings have a glitch maybe 3/4 through the track where
there's silence for ~1.5 seconds and then the tracks
resumes.

VERY annoying.

you are correct sir.

i paid over $30 for that fucking album. i just told myself
at first that it was Autechre's intention to put the gap
there to justify the purchase.

i'm very determined to own the UK version.

you already paid for your music! you may even be able to
send it to warp to get a fixed replacement. or just
download it.

well, it's great for when you want to hear out-of-print/hard
to find albums, when you want to discover new artists, when
you're looking for b-sides and don't want to buy all the
singles, etc.

also, cd players hate me; mp3 players don't. (but i still
buy lots of cds)

by downloading music you can preview things and not be
disappointed for paying for a shit release.

there are artists i will buy without a 'preview', but they
are few and far between. also, much, much, MUCH music is not
readily available for purchase, even if i wasn't in debt up
to my eyeballs.

downloading music is good, but i hate the quality of mp3 if
you burn it to a cd, now if it was flac....thats another
story me loves flac.

I have a bit of a double feeling about flac.

one side of me thinks it's great if you can't find the
original release anymore, or if you're ripping your own cd's
to flac to upload to an mp3 player or something.

the other side thinks that if you want lossless quality, buy
the fucking album you fucking cheapskate!

yes, i feel the exact way you do. so it kind of reduces
downloading to why its good v why its not so good, the two
points you bring up are the main issues i think, and i agree
with both of those points.

at least with mp3 you have a kind of safeguard for the
second option - the highest quality mp3 is basically never
as good as the real thing.

although it's not a safeguard at all really, because most
people can't hear the difference between a wav and a 128 k/s
mp3 anyway.

for instance, i have the nin ep still as flac, but if you
went out and tried to get the original you would have to buy
a dvd as well, last i checked the whole darn thing was too
expensive, so for these types of special releases, flac and
downloading is the only way to fly, but for the new autechre
coming out - i will definetly be buying it : )

it's good cause I'm a fucking cheap bastard, so I get to
steal from the artists I love, and eventually I can make it
so they can't afford to make music anymore... cause I love
them so much!

a good example for me is this.. I love Kate Bush's's's music
as you might know and a few years ago her recordcompany
released a boxed set called "This woman's work" which
contains all her cd's to that date (which are about 5 or 6,
I think) and two exclusive cd's with all her b-sides,
remixes and other rare stuff. these are not available
seperately.

this set costs about 140 euro's.

I'm am NOT going to buy all the albums AGAIN (for a higher
price then when I would buy them individually) just to have
those two cd's.

my brother works in a recordstore and they have the boxed
set there so I already said he should copy those cd's but he
says he can't open the boxed set, he'll get in trouble.

so I found a couple of torrents for the flacced versions of
those two cd's.

which ofcourse don't work. :(

I buy way more music now that I can download it first
to see if I like it or not.

a bad example and i do intend to buy it, would be plaid's
rest proof clockwork, but i have all intentions of the
purchase
