what a predictable oscar list,

Best actress
Hilary Swank - Million Dollar Baby
Imelda Staunton - Vera Drake
Kate Winslet - Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Annette Bening - Being Julia
Catalina Sandino Moreno - Maria Full of Grace

where is Zhang Ziyi for her amazing performance in 2046?

on the subject of 2046, no best director, no best foreign
film, no best cinematography, wtf?!

I can only conclude that it isn't eligible for this years
Oscars...

or that the Oscars is a bulshit award ceremony, hmmm

2046 wasn't eligible.

how come, is it something to do with its release date in the
US?

Sort of, but it does of course mean the film will be
eligible next year.

i know the reviews were mixed but i was surprised to see
"The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou" get totally snubbed. I
mean, it is way better than fukkin "lemony Snickett' for
art direction. and come on, "Phantom of the Opera" for
cinematography? one is a remake of a remake of an opera and
the other is a Tim Burton rip-off. But then, it is
the Oscars...!

i think it's cause "Passion of the Christ" is more of a
snuff video than an actual film. It got the nomination it
really deserves, for Makeup. that was some pure horror film
skills right there!

but I don't think Imelda Staunton's nomination is
predictable, neither is Mike Leigh's.

how in hell is eternal sunshine not on there for best
director or best visual effects? i mean for fucks sake, they
used maybe 2 mintues of cgi in that movie, the rest is mind
blowing camera trickerys.

also, dawn of the dead should be on there for best make-up,
the details in that movie are redic.
