So i finally got around to picking up this little techstep gem, and oh my lord is it good. An album with the power of a thousand analrods, ladies and gentlemen. If you like your d'n'b dark and dirty, then please take time to travel back six years and investigate. Awesome.

Yes it's a pity the search function doesn't work because I have made about 3 thread dedicated to this album, it saw me through my student days all those years back. It's mad to think it is 7 years old now :D

Yeah, i thought you may have done, i saw some references in other threads but no specific one just for this album. It made me do sadface for a bit, there.
I couldn't believe it was that old at first, it sounds fresher than a lot of the pissy-girly dnb that seems to be around at the moment. By the way, have you heard "distorted dreams" by dom and his magical roland gear? Same era and virtually the same beats as "connected" on the album, but even better. Possibly a stupid question, but i'm only just getting back into dnb and i'm curious as to fans here, like.

I have it on vinyl, it was Moving Shadows 100th release and had Dom and Rob Playford (Distorted Dreams) one side and Goldie and Rob on the other. :)

The Storm by Dom is another good track flipping an excellent Gary Oldman "Leon" sample (I like these calm little moments before the storm)

dom is an evil robot from the future. that's the impression this album gives me. one of my favourite drum&bass lps. sadly i lost my industry cd last year.
he uses a few samples from Jean-Pierre Jeunet's movies, 'city of lost children' for city and time frame. and the strings on industry(the track) are from alien resurrection.

Ah, awesome. I've only got a couple of moving shadow 12"s, didn't realize that was their "anniversary" release. I was thinking of picking up "chronology", but i know it's gotten some rather mixed reviews, would you happen to have heard it yet?

Yes, I liked it...it's not as good as Industry but it is better than Back From The Future. IF you can download them then do that first. Firewire is a very good track off Back From The Future. Neither of them are as good as Industry though.

drum&bass nowdays doesn't really impress me like in '98-'00
the production is really excellent, but the tracks lack musical elements, youknow it doesn't have the same depth/soul like in the old days.

industry is def. dom's best lp, the rest of them are too dancefloor/uninteresting
a lot of his singles/ep's on moving shadow over the years have been pretty remarkable though
