Been a while since I logged into Xltronic, or even stepped
outside, or changed my shirt, I've been consumed. What do
you think about this game? If you don't have a Gamecube, you
should really sell your CDs to buy one for this.

It's a gauntlet of terror, daddy-o. Probably the most nerve
wracking game experience I've ever had, I can't get over how
relentless and intimidating it is. I'm also finding it VERY
difficult and tough to survive more than two consecutive
rooms, but then, I suck.

It's not perfect and I still like Silent Hill 2 more,
survival-horror-wise. RE4's story, acting and characters is
still bad comedy of the highest order (but we all knew that
going in). Frankly I hate that, especially now because the
rest of the game took such giant leaps. The contrast is
greater than ever and the cut scenes and script are so
regrettable. In-game, the atmosphere and mood is
intoxicating, though. That's what counts.

So the survival horror genre still has a long way to go.
Meld RE4s control and mechanics with Silent Hill's story and
soul, and you win. Overall this game is killer, though. It's
physically tiring to play.

I've been meaning to rent that. It's about time I dust off
my gamecube and get some use out of it.

remakes and sequals exclusive to game cube....

Yeah, the Resident Evil 1 REmake was the reason I bought the
Gamecube in the first place. That and Resident Evil Zero.

Sorta yeah. There are no ''traditional'' zombies. No
undead. You fight people that are somewhat intelligent but
very very insane. They can speak, have motor skills,
worktogether, etc. It's creepy in it's own way. These people
don't give a fuck, are you to get you, and that's damnscary.

I sort of miss zombies, actually. But this game is a helluva
lot scarier than the other REs, so they must be doing
something right.

Qaaurter- my post up there was a fucking trainwreck. I don't
know what went wrong. :_-( I blame stress.

The sound of a chainsaw revving up behind you in surround
sound sparks peeing of pants.

To be fair, only a dyke would have a 'do like that. Leon
likes girls, don't fret.

to release RE4 for PS2 in the future...i cannot wait.
Ophecks, whats the story with the game? From what i know
leon is sent to find the presidents daughter, whats the deal
with the lack of zombies? Just curious, can't wait to play
this!!

Among girls, I mean. Even though Leon has girly hair, it's a
pretty butch 'do. So it's not like he's a girly girl. Leon's
masculine no matter how you slice it, even when citing the
girl hair.

Crimson- Leon has been sent to rescue the President's
daughter. They got a lead that she was seen around this
village. So he goes there and everybody there tries to kill
him, and all points of egress are blocked off. Then terrible
things start happening and you have to fuck up a lot of
shit.

The story isn't much to speak of, anyway. It's typical
infect/insane/kill kill stuff. It matters not, the game is
like nothing else. Brutal.

in NO way is the 'do butch.

it's something an 11-year-old girl in a spunky Disney film
from the middle-'80s would have.

Spunky, loutl. We're going to have to agree to disagree.
Maybe Canada and Da Nedderlands have different ideas about
these issues.

So has anyone played it yet? I saw today that the PAL
release has some awesome artwork (now my desktop) compared
to the tacky crap on our North American release. You people
usually get the shaft, but not this time.

I just traded my ps2 for my friend's gamecube and have been
playing this game. Its kinda weird seeing the hero get his
head cut off with a chainsaw, makes me feel funny.

So yeah I feel kinda sick whenever I hear the chainsaw guy.
They did a good job in designing him.

i felt very disturbed the first time leon's head got
unceremoniously cut off. this is the first game i've played
where it actually feels like you can die, and that's
probably the most frightening aspect to me.

i'm pretty late to the party since i hooked up my xbox with
xbox live during christmas, and have just been playing
online games until recently, but i'd rather be fashionably
late than not play this masterpiece at all. it's currently
my favourite game ever, or at the very least tied
with street fighter 3 third strike.

i agree with most of what ophecks has said but i have to
disagree with him on the story. it's your typical resident
evil plot (in its own way) but it's executed pretty well,
and the voice acting is surprisingly good. not impressive by
any stretch of the imagination, which i believe is due to
the script itself, but good.

the president's daughter has been kidnapped by insane
spaniards. are you a bad enough dude to rescue the
president's daughter?

this is completely different in almost every way: the
perspective, the combat (now intuitive), the puzzles (barely
any, and the ones there you can figure out quickly), the
saving (now unlimited), the amount of health and ammo (now
abundant), a store to purchase new weapons and upgrades
among other things, and so on.

within five minutes you completely forget you're playing a
resident evil game.

frustrating in the least.

I can't get into RE4. Capcom's point was to make you so
terrified and deathly afraid that it works almost too much
on me. I can't get into it, it makes me feel terrified and
scared.

Yes, the most stressful games I've played. You really
don't want to die in it.

It is fantastic though. They have kept the best aspects of
Resident Evil, whilst stripping away everything that was
annoying about it. Probably the best "storyline" (as opposed
to arcade/GTA style "messing about") lead game I've ever
played.

Yeah, it definitely wasn't very creepy. I'm getting really
tired of the B movie presentation and story, that's actually
what kills the ''scary'' for me. But the game is so much fun
and insanely kinetic. I wasn't haunted or scared like I am
by a Silent Hill game, but it delivers a different sort of
poopy pants fear.

on getting scared/freaked out by a game - I had that with
the old orphanage/sanatorium in Thief 3.

fuck that part freaked me out. I was disappointed when the
"electricuted zombie children" showed up - that made it less
scary. but then you got the whole thing with going into the
past of that place. that was great, again. :)

Shalebridge Cradle was fucking AWESOME, although I think it
went on way too long with that tedious fetch quest. But the
atmosphere was great. I thought the captain's house was kind
of creepy too for some reason, and the zombie boat.

Thief 3 was one of the most underrated games of two thousand
and four.

I still think the story of "Thief 2" is the best. I really

the story in "Thief 3" is okay, the ending isn't very good.
