I just got a second monitor, and it rocks... I love being
able to have cooledit and a sequencer open at the same
time.

I suggest everybody do the same thing, cause it rocks.

I have 2 21" on my desktop PC which I never use any more.
One day I will use them again once I have built my new PC
for makingmusic because laptop music making has gone shit
and is kind of mid 90's in terms of fashion.

I'm fine just having a layout manager which lets me switch
between a few desktops on the same screen.. I haven't been
constrained to the physical dimensions of my monitor in
centuriessssss

Its not about constraints... its more about extra freedom.

The opposite of freedom is not constraint. Its important to
remember that things are not so black and white... things
such as freedom and such. Otherwise you find large groups of
about 300 million people or so sticking their nose in other
peoples business...

I use 2 monitors- the second is a 57' Hitachi Hi-def
television so I am not constrained by the physical
dimensions of my office.
I can compute from the sofa! Fuck ya! I rock!

i have been doing this for about 4yrs or so now, and i have
NEVER, EVER been able to go with 1 monitor after that.

back in the day with only 1 ramdac on the AGP card, had to
install a cheap $5 2d PCI card for the 2nd monitor, still
worked great.

now all high end 3d cards have dual ramdacs so it makes me
so happy :D

about 70% of the people who are into computers that i know,
once they see my setup, they go out and do the same thing.

ITS SO MUCH FREEDOM!

I've been doing this for a long time. Sun workstations and
Macintoshes have supported this for ages . I've had as many
as 4 going at once but that's a bit overkill.

current setup

It would be tough to work with only one again.

needs mohr gumballs. :)

but yes, once you go two (or three, for that matter) ... you
can't go back to one.

Yeah... it would kinda feel wierd not having that extra
space...

I am finally used to the setup... and it would feel wierd
having only one.

Mostly for doing work with audition and such. But being able
to watch movies on my computer and use the internet or play
a game at the same time is usefull...

My only problem is the light output at night... it seems to
keep my girlfriend up... but then I could just close the
door...
