Help identify hipsters

Friends, a new mass-manufactured category of humans is upon
us. I give you the "hipster".

Can you identify "hipsters" on this board? I can think of
one obvious example but it wouldn't be very "deck" of me to
point it out.

Zues, with the exception of fat levels it suits him
perfectly. Also Ceri JC would fit into this social
grouping.

naaah Ceri wouldn't fit.. he's much too common sense/down to
earth.

he would never say something like "post modern", for
example.

Ceri is so not a hipster as mister qrter points out.

Zeus? I don't think so - he has the ballcap but it's not a
trucker cap. I can picture him with the shoulder sack but
it's got a Nord G2 and some music theory texts in it. He's
far too earnest and hardworking at his schoolish things to
be a hipster. I say he's a music geek.

Yes, I can see that.

Bit less work, you mean. Wouldn't want to appear contrived,
you know. Do they have thrift shops in France?

You'd have to see a picture of me in my dirty t-shirt and
sweatpants to know that isn't true. I am so uncool I sap
color from the landscape in a half mile radius.

On the other hand I have the plastic frame glasses, white
boy fro and a shoulder bag.

But I have never once worn a shortsleeve shirt over a
longsleeve shirt so I feel this somehow absolves me.

1. You graduated from a liberal arts school whose football
team hasn't won a game since the Reagan administration.

2. You frequently use the term "post-modern" (or its
commonly used variation "PoMo") as an adjective, noun, and
verb.

3. You carry a shoulder-strap messenger bag and have at one
time or another worn a pair of horn-rimmed or Elvis
Costello-style glasses.

4. You have one Republican friend who you always describe as
being your "one Republican friend."

5. Your hair looks best unwashed and you position your head
on your pillow at night in a way that will really maximize
your cowlicks.

6. You own records put out by Matador, DFA, Definitive Jux,
Dischord, Warp, Thrill Jockey, Smells Like Records, and Drag
City.

------

this is a great thread.
