That's not a simple question at all. Think of all the analysis that is needed to distinguish animals from plants, cute animals ones from ugly ones, big from little. Think of all the introspection that *I* have to do to come up with the answer. I mean... do *I* get the urge to eat cute little animals... well shit, who *am* I? There's ethics, philosophy, biology.. the pysics of eating.. the symantics of what exactly constitutes "eating"... If I build a robot with an artificial mouth and program it to eat a cute little animal for my amusement, did *I* have the urge to eat them or did the robot... hell, DID I eat them merely using the robot as an extended phenotype? |
