Check out some Kenny Larkin and Neuropolitique. As for Matt
Cogger (Neuropolitique) I'm not sure if he's British or
American....all I know was he was around helping out the
Transmat label in it's early years.

As for Kenny Larkin check out the song "Tedra" by Lark. As
far as a I know the only album with that recording is
this awesome compilation.

Also, John Beltran's early stuff, specifically
this and this

My last suggestion would be The Detroit Escalator Co. Definitely check
him out.

Those would be my suggestions....I'm more up to date on the
UK's early sound rather than Detroit's, still some quality
stuff mixed around.

are you talking TECHNO-techno, or.. eh... electronic music?

He means Techno specifically....hence "Detroit Techno." I
don't think anyone refers to Electronic Music as Techno on
this board, although I could be wrong!

well, i guess a bit straighter than your usual
electronica...that acidy stuff is what im after...maybe
minimal doesn't quite fit in this, but if the artists have
as much variety as mills than i guess i should check that as
well :)

revpersona, thanks, i'll look up those, that john beltran
has a very similar name to joey beltram who i also like a
lot :-)

ok...

then I don't know anything... I just remembered detroit had
some early electronic/hip-hop pioneers, I think... or maybe
that was Boston.. for some reason I always mix those two
up...

check out carl cox, early richard hautin (plastikman) and
kevin saunderson. you could just go after the minimalist
techno stuff, which is sometimes close to detroit techno.

Derrick May. His work on Innovator has definitely
reverberated throughout the excessive sub genres of techno.
I'd say his work has kept up really well because of it's
originality.

The Perspects -- on erstatz audio; he was in the really
famous le car group with adam miller from adult and they
started their own label (a side label of ersatz) called
monoplaza records co. definitely has his own style and
definitely takes himself seriously. he even sings on his
last one, which actually turned out pretty cool. all of his
releases are really good, my favorite being the Desire and
Efficiency 12" on ersatz.

d.i.e -- is on the 'cult' label m.a.p. out of detroit.
also has some clone releases. you'll definitely want to
check out "the men you'll never see" -- it's fucking great.

it's hard to explain how they sound...great melodies; it's
electro, just try it out, trust me.

Oh, because I use a satilite broadband service called
direcway. They block your port number. So, you can't connect
with other computers. Beyond my understanding. I can talk in
a chat room on slsk, but I get hardly anything in searches.
If I try to dl. never happens. Keeps polling. Plus, now Im
locked into a 15 month contract with this evil corporations.
