sorry if this has been posted already, but this is a great
album!

especially for fans of negativland, the ecc, v/vm, matmos,
the bran flakes, or sound-collage in general. if you have
never heard of PLU before, check this out.

---------
People Like Us (Vicki Bennett) creates audio-visual collage
using sampling and found footage from the renowned Prelinger
Archives. These appropriated elements compose the arena
where recontextualized sounds and images begin to take on
new lives, giving way to multiple worlds of mirrored images.
The result is a labyrinthine universe of alchemical mystery
where equal measures of lighthearted humour and sinister
satire create a balanced art. By using A/V elements from
throughout the 20th C., Bennett paradoxically breathes new
interpretations into our current relationship with
technology. Her work is a delightful parody of both past and
present European and American culture.

glad you like something i've recommended! :)

i just find her style to be very organic - she puts together
stuff in a way i never expect... i've got to try and
download the rest of these.

so far i've dld the live performance she did with Kenny G on
WFMU. you've got to hear at least the first track - it's
awesome: 01. I'm From

i really like Wide Open Spaces (with wobbly and matmos) and
Nothing Special (with kenny g). you can listen to them on
the download page above and, from there, buy them on cd as
well.

that's from Thermos Explorer which you can order from
here... the stuff i recommended (her newer work)
is a bit different. her newer albums are not as mellow
electronica-sounding... it sounds more like what they are -
very cohesive collage. i don't think the whole TE album
sounds like that track, but i do remember enjoying it. i'm
going to have to listen again soon, i think... :)
