I was wondering if anyone was into these guys. When I
searched the board, the only mentions of them were from me
but I know somebody here must dig them or would dig them.
Ultra sleazy lo-fi new wave, so so noir and so cool. Any
group that uses Gothy synths mixed with saxs has to be hip.

I remember I randomly grabbed them out of somebody's SLSK
folder in 2003 because their name reminded me of Sailor Moon
(Sailor Moon + Tuxedo Mask= Tuxedomoon). You gotta admit,
they have a cool name.

i'm quite much into them, though not an expert. i have ghost
sonata and desire. i also heard half-mute. ghost sonata is
thus my fav record. it's time i explored them more.

it's a thread about one of the most interesting bands from
the 80s, it's a shame it's this short.

underrated album thread and my only post was in regards to
their "half mute" LP - which is amazing

so you're wrong...but they're amazing

Tuxedomoon-.The.Ghost.Sonata\Tuxedomoon - 12 Les Odalisques

perfect track.

all you kids who think that "aphex twin" made any great
track in his lazy career so far - just listen to this album.

discussion.

Like I said, their name is actually what got me into them.
Isn't it precious?

I don't remember this topic... I remember making it but I
don't think I ever saw it again when it got bumped back up.

And yeah, The Ghost Sonata is beautiful. Tuxedomoon is one
of my top 10 favorite bands ever. Blaine L. Reininger's solo
albums are well worth checking out too.

Random great TMoon track- their live Heard it through the
Grapevine cover on Pinheads on the Move.

haha, I love that you used that word, it takes a big man to
say that and mean it. :) But yes, it is precious, and now I
am curious to hear their music. Is this something that
would have normal music store distribution or am I going to
have to dig a little?

It really is amazing how much music I discover just based on
interesting or alluring artist/track/album titles. I don't
care what anyone says about 'not judging a book by its
cover' or the arbitrariness of track titles or whatnot. I
think its crucial.

The Ghost Sonata is quite different to their other albums.

Yeah, I'm pretty shallow when it comes to names and track
titles... there's so much stuff I just shotgun download on
SLSK just because it has a cool name (I don't blind buy...
I'll blind download and then see if it wins me over first).
Stuff I've never seen mentioned anywhere else. It's pretty
surprising how fruitful it is... if something has a cool
name, there's like a 95% chance I'll like it. It's a cheesy
tactic.

You might have to dig a little for Tuxedomoon stuff, though
Amazon has most of their best albums. Half Mute is probably
the best intro... hooke me, anyway. Really distinctive
stuff, great mood music with a couple of great quirky pop
tunes.

inside the recording studio present during the recording
process....and emiting strangest of sounds
