Tomorrow I am going to investigate the possiblity of going over to one of the zones affected zones to help.

  Who's up for it?
Does anyone know whether they are looking for volunteers to go out there? I suppose there will be tons of people who have offered already.

They originally pledged $15 million to help. $15 million when they have already spend over $100 billion on a phoney war.

we are so generous! "Bush said he would consider a debt-repayment moratorium." --- he's considering it! so generous!!!!!

today, the same day that bush offered his "generous" millions, the mayor of washington d.c. signed legislation to spend 1 billion dollars on a new stadium for corporate baseball. it's true that the two financial issues are unrelated, but i think it's quite revealing how politicians are getting away with murder, isn't it?

this is a tragic situation b/c a significant portion of the populations are wiped out and it'll be a while before resort places can start up their businesses again.

after seeing this video, i felt that it was necessary to donate some money to the cause - even though im not swimming in cash, it's the least i can do to help:

I watched a good deal of coverage on the bbc today. The scope of the disaster hadn't hit me until I saw the magnitude of the devastation on the television.

I've considered doing aid-work abroad, but I don't even know where to begin

I think at the minute they're only wanting medically trained volunteers but I'm sure later on when things are starting to get back on their feet a little bit, they will be helpful of any spare pair of hands.

On CNN last night, I saw one Asian doctor fella fixing up some people. It was quite jarring, there was a line of like two hundred people, and only that one doctor there. Must be daunting.

And it looked like he was like 20.

  Horrible horrible!
Skit you really need to see stuff like this cause it is so hard to relate to it otherwise. If you can't relate you are likely to get more upset over stuff like for example there is no milk left for your coffe or there is a scratch on your favorite record.

At work we are doing a campain together with other companies , Red Cross will make a letter asking for donations and another company will print it and we the mail company will deliver it , all for free.

the US donation is disgusting, they can spend billions on war and destruction but not a significant amount for a dissaster such as this?

I would do aid work if they needed people but I don't think they do, they best thing we can do is donate money. Unfortionately i'm unemployed so my donation isn't much but its better than nothing. I hope many many people here and around the world are able to donate and bring the amount of aid donations up to what is needed. There is easily enough money in this world for such a cause.

$350 Million for tsunami aid, that's honestly nice and generous. It's wrong to criticize on any amount of donation.
However it still makes me sick to my stomach when I compare it to the figures that make up the total cost of the Iraq war thus far: $150 Billion.
Pro war lunatics critics would, after they were done raving about how the war got rid of a used up U.S. pawn 'the most dangerous man on the planet', start by saying there's gonna be a generous $80 Billion pumped into the country's rebuilding, but you can can bet your ass that there's gonna be alot more dollars worth getting 'pumped' out of the country as a result, not to mention the numerous U.S. corporations getting lucrative contracts for rebuilding the country. So in essence the current $150 Billion pricetag on the war in Iraq is nothing but a sure investment, at the current cost of over 15.000 expendable human lives, pawns sacrificed for future economical benefit. Yes, unfortunately, war is big business.
