Please list recent games you have enjoyed playing under an emulated environment. Please don't abuse this slightly ambiguous description and consider your room to be an emulation of a room in some other setting, and hence any game you play being 'under an emulated environment'. I am very sensitive, don't hurt my feelings. Furthermore, I apologize for the ambiguous thread header, I don't want it to be too long.

SO! use brackets to indicate emulator
previously: do don pachi [mame] previously: XCOM ufo defense [dosbox] previously: Dark Sun 2 [dosbox] now: dark stalkers [mame]
(I'm bored, and need to be MORE lazy so I stop boring YOU with these threads.)

Yes but the very first wonderboy game. I was addicted to the music more than the game when I was a kid. It is more nostalgia now.

That's pretty cool. I really remember the music to some great games too: Star Control 2 (PC) and super metroid (SNES). Super metroid I still fire up now and then in znes just to get a first-hand feel for the environment and music again.

Star chase or whatever zone in Sonic 1 is really nice. I love playing that game just for the nostalgia it evokes (just like braindance said).

Sonic 2 is the best one IMO, though I had a lot of fun getting all chaos and hyper emeralds with all three characters in the combined sonic 3 + sonic and knuckles rom. If you like these games, try that some time! Like I said it doesn't have the color of the sonic 2 levels, but there's a lot of quality and fun anyway, and definitely with the task of getting all of that shit, lots of gameplay!

I haven't been playing anything of late and you probably already know this but I'll say it anyway: a new version of zsnes finally came out the other day, over 2 years after than the previous one. The games I last played on emulators were Super Puzzle Fighter II [mame] and Pushover [zsnes],
both of which are most excellent.

I didn't know that!! thank you very much! I have been using one of their 'work in progress' versions for a while, and it rendered using GL textures, which resulted in a great framerate boost on my machine. I'll check out those games shortly, thanks!

I like this old arcade platformer called Black Tiger. You kill orcs and frogfaced mummies with tongues of flame. Plays on MAME.

I ran through the first Donkey Kong Country game today. A few observations-

1- the controls are fucking TIGHT. It's always your fault if you fuck up. The characters react as fast as you can think.

2- the game has some really annoying spots that drove me ape (get it?!?)

  3- it's aweslime.

I love how the game starts. So easy, controls like a dream. But I forgot how TOUGH it gets later on... maybe I'm rustsy from playing modern games where precision isn't all that important, but I really got owned during the first few snow levels.

I saved a state near the end of Krem-Croc Industries... I couldn't take the heat.

Great memories of winter '94. This game is a real gem.

Yeah the snow levels where still quite an chalenge, the game keeps its nice flow even as it get's harder though, often in mordern games the "chalenge" becomes more of a boring pain in the arse, in donkey kong the flow is still on all the way!

tomorrow morning im gonna plug in the snes and play some donkey, after i have explored the world in mp2 that comes after Torvus bog (theres a big risk i get stuck in mp2 though) =D
