Just wondering if anybody here enjoys speedruns/time
trials/showoffs. You know, like the infamous Super Mario 3
run. I want some more links and some good vids to watch.

Speed Demo Archive

Arc's Movies of Gaming Superplays

Bisqwit

My favorites are the long arduous 3D games, they really have
to be in the zone for those runs... some guy got 70 stars in
Mario 64 in an hour, no tricks or edits. And you can count
his fuckups on one hand. Though it's still impressive to
watch guys beat old school games in 10 minutes without
getting hit, games that I've been trying to beat since
1986.

I just watched the Half Life 2 speedrun the other day, 3
hours. You have to be quite dorky to sit through these...
but if you're here reading this right now, I'm sure you're a
dork anyway. ^_^

Has anyone played the crappy rpg-ish game for genesis called
'fairy tale'? if not, i suggest downloading it and
playing it on an emulator so you can laugh at its
horribleness.
the only thing you can do to stay alive in the game
is perform a 'speed run'. and that's basically the whole
game, that i've at least experienced; defencelessly run from
villians as fast as you can.
it's cream-o-the-crop.

i can do smb2 in under 15. i've mentioned this quite a few
times, but i don't think anyone cares. perhaps i should get
a video of it somehow.

i'd love to see that. i have it on gba, and it's often taken
me 15 minutes just to beat one level on several occasions..

For real. It takes me 15 minutes just to climb up those
vertical areas sometimes. The ones with the keys and the
chains.

Optimus- I tried to watch a Twin Snakes run once but the
video was horribly dark and unwatchable... in fact, that's a
big problem with next gen speedruns, the dark games don't
show up unless the file quality is really high. Do you know
where I can get the vid you saw?

i watched the planetquake vid, which is probably what you
saw. worked fine for me. i suppose you could always just
change your brightness settings.

right now i'm grabbing the silent hill run.

I don't think it was from Planet Quake, but I'll find out
because I'm going to grab it again anyway.

The Goldeneye 50 minute run is good, the guy put in a
bloopers section at the end for the horrible fuckups and
speedrun killers. Some of them are heartbreaking and totally
not his fault. And he died on Trevelyan at the end of the
game once, heh.

With the warp zones, its pretty easy to get that game done
in under 20 or 15.

You just have to know where they all are...
