most disturbing AFX songs

Richard from finland on 2001-05-14 14:00 [#00006344]

this is basically what afx song(s) disturbed you so much
that you almost puked.
well, for me :

-elephant song
-digeridoo
-BBB (no bounce mix)

-=[MC PhuQheAd]=- from Frankfurt/Germany on 2001-05-14 14:44 [#00006346]

Well, Elephant Song pisses me off as well, but Digeridoo is
great in my eyes.
The most disturbing song for me is def "Aphex Airlines".
What the fuck is that supposed to be? A 6-minute roaring
noise.
But what is BBB?

hevquip from crab bisquits on the corner of a concrete horse on 2001-05-14 15:00 [#00006347]

bucephalus bouncing ball. the main drone in aphex airlines
is emulating the sound you hear when sitting in a plane

-=[MC PhuQheAd]=- from Frankfurt/Germany on 2001-05-14 15:20 [#00006349]

Oh yeah, I see!

I didn't get it the first time... :-)
Another disturbing song is "Fantasia", but it is SO annyoing
and disturbing that it's good... um... I don't know how to
explain... (cough)

M (www.mp3.com/artificialselection) on 2001-05-14 18:00 [#00006361]

I think only some sort of seriously neurotic serial killer
would make a song like "beetles". The lyrics are disturbing
and those sharp high pitch tones are like knives.

Quoth from Lincoln on 2001-05-15 00:27 [#00006381]

yeah...i'm going to get alot of shit for this...but here it
goes....Complex Mathematical Equation pisses me off royally
IMHO

rob fragilenine from Australia on 2001-05-15 01:08 [#00006385]

i think track 11 from AB3, or .1993841 would be the most
disturbing ones, or maybe some of the stuff from SAWII (not
the nice ones, the ones that sound 'random').

[REFLEX] from Western Canada on 2001-05-15 01:50 [#00006406]

Dodecaheedron or whatever scares the shit outta me.. actualy
LOTS of aphex twin songs are very disturbing.. indeed.

TekN010G from Australia on 2001-05-15 02:12 [#00006409]

pigeon street,.. so happy it's disturbing

[REFLEX] from Western Canada on 2001-05-15 02:58 [#00006412]

HAHAA

ptolemy from canada on 2001-05-15 05:06 [#00006426]

without a doubt, 'humanoid must not escape', and 'nannou'
are two of the freakiest ones out there.

Aron? from Canada on 2001-05-15 05:20 [#00006427]

There are many tracks by Mr.James that piss me off, I'll
make a short list...

1. Ventolin (video version)
2. basically everything Polygon Window has done!
3. Elephant Song
4. [complex mathematical equasion]
5. Nannou
6. Logon Rock Witch

Springymajig from New Zealand (www.mp3.com/aureus) on 2001-05-15 05:37 [#00006429]

Aphex Airlines, Ventolin, Equation (haven't heard all of it
though). I found COME ON YOU SLAGS! was quite freaky the
first time I heard it.

Springymajig from New Zealand (www.mp3.com/aureus) on 2001-05-15 05:39 [#00006430]

And I have to admit the bit on Come To Daddy where his voice
booms out SWOUL!!!! freaks me out big time.

Fetus on 2001-05-15 06:47 [#00006434]

I dunno what you guys are talking about...(complex
mathimatical equation) is badass...a beautiful song.

amphenol from earth on 2001-05-15 07:25 [#00006436]

Ventolin (video version) will drive anyone insane! here's a
funny thing to do, just play it for someone that isn't
really into that sort of thing (at a reasonable level) and
just act normal as if its a radio pop song (make sure to
show no emotion in your facial expressions) and just watch
there reactions, its funny!

Naphex-Male from Vancouver, B.C. Canada on 2001-05-15 10:48 [#00006452]

Come To Daddy is the most disturbing Aphex song i can think
of. It was disturbingly beautiful the first time I heard it,
and it still is today! Yo!

Arch Rival from NY on 2001-05-15 12:17 [#00006472]

Elephant song is the wackest track ever made by any signed
artist.

Wizard MaC from Amersfoort on 2001-05-15 15:38 [#00006485]

"We are the musicmakers" is probably the most annoying track
of Richard I know.

SWAI from Denmark on 2001-05-15 18:31 [#00006502]

I wonder why no-one mentioned "donkey rhubarb". dont get me
wrong i like some of the track, but theres this extremely
high pitch noise thats almost throughout the whole song.
pisses me off.

didnt anybody else notice/get anoyed by It???

cheech wizard from earth on 2001-05-15 18:31 [#00006503]

logon rock witch?
any other scary ones? ageiopolis?

Joyeboy from California on 2001-05-15 19:43 [#00006525]

Bah!!! I love "We Are The Music Makers", with that cute
little tune, heh...

TekN010G from Australia on 2001-05-15 23:32 [#00006529]

logon rock witch and donkey rhubarb piss me off as well

ali on 2001-05-16 01:28 [#00006534]

no aphex twin song is desturbing to my ears, except maybe
come to daddy (little lord faulteroy mix) and window licker
is desturbingly boring...the polygon window stuff serves its
purpose. none of saw 2 is random, it works perfectly as a
whole
anyone that here's the notes on 'beetles' as knifes must be
a pscho serial killer...
bye

joyce barber on 2001-05-18 00:55 [#00006659]

D-scape (28 mix)

[REFLEX] from Western Canada on 2001-05-18 01:05 [#00006660]

oh..... yeah I dunno.... like I said.. most of his songs
mean different things to different people. i come to believe
that to me, most AFX songs are in some way disturbing...
especially the Caustic Window shit, and all of analogue
bubblebath 3.

neofob on 2001-05-18 08:03 [#00006679]

Ventolin, no doubt. I haven't heard the whole thing yet.

5is6 from +-=0 on 2001-05-18 09:02 [#00006684]

In the original mix of 'Come to Daddy', at the end of the
song when its all techno spliced to peices, Aphex says in
what I can only describe as a Robotic-Demonic emulated
voice, "I WANT YOUR SOUL"! Thats the darkest sample of his
own voice to date. I'd love to recreate the effect he used
there. Any suggestions on how to?

Theifofalways from an ugly military base, Germany on 2001-05-18 09:52 [#00006689]

It would no doubt be radiator off of SAW. I did a short
deployment in Kosovo. I remember, late one afternoon, we
drove through a small village and about half of the
buildings were on fire or smouldering. The sun was starting
to go down and the sky was deep red-orange. We didnt see one
single person in the whole town, not one person, not even a
dog or anything. It was serene and dreadfull, beautiful and
terrible. Whenever I hear radiator, i think of that place
and it leaves me with a very strange feeling way down in the
pit of my gut.

rob fragilenine from the inside of a midgets hat on 2001-05-21 01:41 [#00006913]

there's an effect i have that comes close to that robotic
sort of sound, it's a program called goldwave, and under the
'flanger' effect, there's a preset called robot2, that
sounds close...

kaiaj from yemen on 2001-05-21 02:46 [#00006916]

I really don't like Elephant Song. I find the elephant
noise so annoying.

[REFLEX] from Western Canada on 2001-05-21 07:35 [#00006928]

I think thats the point.

Some are quite harsh. Listening to some of his stuff, really
loud on your walkman is class. Listening to Come to Daddy
whilst walking amongst loads of people in the city, and them
not hearing what you're hearing puts a smile on my face.

Ok.. the most disturbing song is the one on Drukqs where you
only hear sounds going first forwards and then backwards..
it starts out with a woman giving birth, then someone
walking down a hall with rubber floor and rubbing their feet
along the floor.. disturbing

Disturbs means worrying/scaring you as in that film (e.g.
9mm disturbed me) people seem to just have put down songs
they don't like/that irritate them.

I wasn't having a go at you nac, just a n observation based
on most posts on this thread.
