You probably hate me now for making an Appreciation thread,
but I couldn't resist.

Last night I went to a friend's house, and much to my
surprise, there was an SNES console he and his wife bought
at a thrift store.

Anyway, I ended up playing The Legend of Zelda: A Link to
the Past on it for nearly 12 hours, from the very start to
the third palace, post Aganhim's founding of the Dark World.
Basically, I went from 3 to 11 hearts in one session, albeit
a long one.

This is just the first time in years since I've played on a
real SNES console. You're more than welcome to share your
memories and experiences with the 16-bit console we all know
so well and love.

Super Mario World... Donkey Kong Country... Starfox...
Earthworm Jim... etc... good memories! : )

i mostly play on emulation now since my only official
controller is fucked up, and i don't have a lot of games
(barely a few and not even the best ones in fact - i was too
young at the time or something). but some 16-bit games were
so good.

i know a girl who finished Zelda III in less than two hours
(and she has the SNES logo tatooed somewhere on her body o_O
among other tatoos)....

I prefered my Genesis over SNES, and my NES over my Genesis.

Oh jeez, Super Metroid was a masterpiece. it took me sooo
much practice to learn that wall-clicking trick.. haha but
man, once you had it down you were unstoppable.

I also enjoyed the entire Mega man X series..

I still listen to the soundtrack for Zelda 3 at LEAST one a
week. In fact, I think the SNES pumped out the best video
game music ever. It had so much substance.

I wonder what will happen in 50-60 years when we're all dead
and there will be NOBODY left on earth that lived to enjoy
the NES/SNES era. I wonder what people will think of
Earthbound or Super Mario World or Castlevania 3 in 2064.

Ill give my little story, why not?

My Brother won a SNES at the launch of a place called Ctiy
center in dubai. it was amazing, i was like 9-10 years old.
First game we got was samurai-X? something like that, a beat
em up, really good, someone help me.

Other then that we had good old mario, mario kart and best
of all wrestling! wrestlle mania i think. something like
that. great game, never stopped playing it.

SNES was probably the best console before playstation (mabey
even better then that) sega didnt have shit on it. or jaguar
haha

oh jeez, I forgot about mario RPG. that game was
ridiculously fun. Great music, great gameplay. the timed
hits thing was a fabulous feature of the battle sequences..
great gimmicky stuff too like Grate Guy's Casino and Melody
Bay..
Good memories.

about Mario RPG, this new "Paper Mario" game looks cool...
i'd be really interested in it, if it wasn't a RPG (at least
in fighting style, i hate turn-per-turn fights) actually -_-

I think I'll give Zelda another try, since I thought there
was way too much slash-slash-slash on first attempt.

Arguably one of the top RPGs of all time.

Earthbound!
Mario Kart was a classic.
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. That game also is
fucking awesome and fun

lastly i recommend blackthorne

Yeah Mario Kart was great.

I never played Earthbound though.. = (

As for Blackthorne, it plays very much like Flashback,
though both are great games. In a way, Oddworld for PS1
followed in their footsteps.

Out of this World was another spectacular title of that sort
of side-scroller adventure genre.

You need to play Earthbound as soon as possible. It's one of
those games that are like none other, and the soundtrack is
truly one of a kind. It's the toppermost of the poppermost.

It's a risky proposition trying to follow up a such a unique
game but I'd love to see a 3D sequel for Gamecube. Lots of
good shit could be done with the Earthbound universe in 3
dimensions.

and besides all those things, it had great graphics too!
they were absolutely top of the line in terms of what the
SNES could do... To date I'd say it's still my favorite RPG
ever, and I've played quite a few.

than super sf2.

Best RPG's:
1. LEgend of Zelda - Link to past
2. Secret of Mana
3. Shadowrun

i never got to play mario rpg

''Super Probotector'', haha. That sound sooooo much less
cool than ''Contra''.

They don't make 'em like the classic contras anymore. Well,
Ratchet and Clank comes close, I guess.
