Making music outside

Has anyone tried? I'm getting tired of staring in my
computer screen or at my instruments placed in my room :( I
would love to go out in the freezing cold and look upon a
lake or something.

You'd need electricity, and it doesn't grow on trees. Until
they make MAGIC instruments.

I've taken my acoustic guitar out and about a bit, it does
make a difference to what you come up with

I'd love to have a laptop, and go to the beach in some nice
warm place down south and make music... it would be nice and
inspiring I bet...

Oh yeah, laptops. Sometimes I think I'm the only person in
the universe, and everyone has a computer exactly like mine.
A horrible piece of garbage that crashes hourly (nice CPU
other than that glaring problem).

it would be pretty cool to make music outdoor w/ a loptop,
or maybe even on the subway, bus
or @ school between classes (or during them)
but as i understand it, laptop screens glare really badly
outdoors...
and i wouldn't want it to get stolen or anything

i like to be able to play music loud when i'm writing tunes.
usually when i have done a tune using headphones and then i
play it back on proper speakers i have to mix the whole
track again cuz all the levels just sound wrong, maybe thats
just cuz my headphones r a bag of shit i dunno

apple laptops have firewire, and they're supposed to be good
for music production too.
the g4 powerbook is super cool (15inch screen on a laptop!)
and its got a titanium case... but its actually really
powerful too.. and really expensive
btw, thom yorke and jonny from radiohead both use them to
make music on the road.. not that that (or the cool looks)
should influence ur decision

(im sure some pc laptops have FW too.. just not sure which
ones)

but about this "layla" thing.. any info anyone? (a link
perhaps?)

cool thanks
btw, could u clear something up for me?
ok, are pro sound cards used mostly for AUDIO recording
work?
if ur not planning on recording audio (ie guitar/vocal
track), but just arranging samples w/ software.. what
advantage is there of having a good sound card?
do they have hardware effects processors or something?

umm... I believe *personal opinion* sound cards make the
music recorded and played back much better, with obviously
the more $ you spend. I dunno... the sound card that I'm
using is the Echo - "Mia 24/96 Audio System" and it's tight
as hell. Games & Audio recording/editing sounds SUPERB.
work?

If I were you and I was interested in arranging samples and
such, I would buy a regular 20-bit sound card and go from
there. I'd suggest buying software, (ie: Acid, Cakewalk,
basically anything that lets you sample!) that includes
effects and ease of recording.

I agree.
ACID is great for the start. Fast, efficient and easy to
handle :-)
