I have no opinion in general. I like some, and some are just plain boring. Favourites: Deconstructing Harry and Mighty Aphrodite.

i love them, especially for slow acxtion. brilliant dialogs and scenes, sort of normal ones but filled with irony and absurd. my favourite is "all you would like to know about sex..." , the orgasm/ejaculation theory is just awesome !
hes kinda old now, i wonder how long he will make the films...

He's kind of an annoying character, if he's anything like the characters he plays in his movies then i would love for him to get hit by a bus. Didn’t he marry his adopted Asian daughter or something? What a pervert. Other than that my favorite movie of his is "Small Time Crooks" just because Jon Lovitz makes me piss myself.

I like his films a lot. I have a lot of them on dvd.
apparently his last one, "Melinda & Melinda", with Will Ferell is supposed to be pretty good.
my favourites: Sleeper, Interiors, Annie Hall, Manhattan, Hannah & her sisters, Crimes & Misdemeanours, Stardust memories, Bullets over broadway, Manhattan murder mystery, Mighty Aphrodite, Deconstructing Harry, Everyone says I love you, Celebrity.
if you're starting to watch Woody Allen, you'd best start with "Annie Hall" - it's pretty much iconic for his general style (although not all his films are like it, a lot are though..).

i watched annie hall for like the 20th time today :) i love it.
woody is just highly entertaining actor...his films may be all alike, but i never get tired of them. he's fun to watch, and i love his sense of sarcasm. always working with real good actors is a big bonus. i just love all the talking, you barely get to see a scene without a speech, infact it's all talk mostly.
i haven't seen everyone says i love you yet, but i have that on divx so i'll give it a look one of these days.
i was really interested in your opinions on him, coz i got the impression you either like him a lot or not at all..looks like this impression works at xltronic as well :)

I thought "curse of the jade scorpion" was pretty awful, "small time crooks" just marginally better, but "deconstructing harry" is just excellent.
I love the cutting in that film, the repeating of shots. that film has a nice, darker side to it. all the little stories inside the story also work very well.
did you see "radio days"? that one is also filled with smaller stories, but it kind of loses momentum down the way.
"hollywood ending" is pretty far-fetched, but it's still pretty entertaining.
"anything else" is kind of weird.. Jason Biggs playing Woody Allen. but it has Christina Ricci doing a pretty good job, Stockard Channing is also good in it.
the ones I have re-watched and re-watched again are Annie Hall, Manhattan, Manhattan Murder Mystery and Hannah and her sisters. those are just perfect. I must've seen all of those at least 20 times, too. :)

i only saw curse of the scorp..once so far, so maybe it wasn't all that good for woody's class (same goes for small time crooks - perhaps one of his 'lightest' films, but it's good fun anyway - i always enjoy watching him so that may be the reason), but compared to most films it was still well above average imo :)
i watched 'radio days' and 'hannah and her sisters' over the weekend again, and i love them both. i prefer the sisters a bit more...michael caine and max von sydow are both very respected actors on my list :)
i haven't seen that ricci&biggs one yet...but i'll get to see it eventually..

btw, the scene i laughed the most to in annie hall, was the one where he goes to visit her in l.a., and tony roberts gets him out of jail...when they sit in the car and tony puts some sort of mask/helmet on - and then that look that woody gives him; "are we going to drive through radiation..".

he wrote "what's new, pussycat" and played a small part in it.
also with Peter Sellers.
I think he (Allen) hates that film, they screwed around with his script or something.
