software, maybe?

the majority of computer users are PC users, and the
majority of PC users i've talked to (all of the PC users
i've spoke to) have exclaimed surprise when i told them that
it can be (95% of the time) just as easy (if not, easier) to
get hold of pirated copies of Macintosh software.

everyone always assumes that just because Apple do not have
the major share in the computer market that there is hardly
any cracks/serials/pirated copies of software floating
around...

let me tell you....Mac OS comes with a disk imaging utility
natively.....with most software CD's all it takes is for you
to disk image the CD and burn.....there ya go, instant
copy....no copy protection, nada.

obviously with stuff like Logic and Cubase there are
measures, but you can get hold of cracks

i'm trying to get hold of some Atari's for my sequencing
needs

i'd prefer to trigger hardware synths/samplers/drum machines
from an Atari rather than my PowerBook

I remember you had to send your powerbook back didnt you?
What was wrong with it? What model do you have? How portable
is it?

I want to get one to be able to transport easily. My laptop
is like the ship in the opening scene of Spaceballs.

"everyone uses a vaio: afx, kraftwerk, four tet, wonder
why?"

Thats rubbish, pretty much every live electronica performer
i've seen has used either an Apple ibook or powerbook.
Matmos, Bjork, Maja Ratkje, Kaffe Matthews, Merzbow to name
a few...

yep, definately easy, I can attest to that :)

plus it would look so much cooler using a powerbook with
that lit up apple at a live performance :)

wish I could have afforded to keep mine :(

I don't get it, why keep emphasising you had a problem with
(god forbid) a mac? Anyone can have a problem with any
computer, mac or windows...

If Aphex bought an atari, would you buy one too?
How about a commodore 64?
A drumkit?
A dildo?

C'est vrai.

My fucking alienware cost me my SOUL. I was poor for a long
time with the hopes that I would have a sweet computer for
making tunes. The truth? Its fucking fast as fast shit but
it crashes 5 out of 6 times when Im using music software.
Its infuriating.

i have emphasised that i've had problems with PC's in the
past...i still do

but i also emphasise that i had problems with Apple

and since their support and repair is supposed to be so
exemplery, and yet so fucking shite, i thought i'd let
everyone know what they're letting themselves in for when
they're spending a LOT of money on a machine that is
supposed to "just work" (Apple's own words)
