Heard some Bola for the first time.
Played through aquilla, fyuti, mauver, pae paoe, shapes,
soup on my ipod today as I was working.
It is a little bit stale. Its all space style strings and
devoid of texture. Maybe with repeated listens the
intricacies will reveal themselves if they exhist. The
standout track of the bunch was Pae Paoe with the nice
strings and percussion, but was very very Faithless
sounding. (I think its Faithless, Im referring to the group
that does the song with the guy speech-rapping "I can't get
no sleep")

Poor Bola.

Aquilla is really good. I forgot about it. The track, I
mean. Not the whole release. The rest of the songs on
Aquilla were forgettable.

Words can't describe the beauty of Bola.

It should only take 2-3 listens to reveal its brilliance to
you. This artist deserves so much more than he gets.

Maybe just start with one proper album, rather than a mix?

I think the flow of the tracks has a lot to do with how the
music presents itself to you.

Just a thought! :)

Well I've listened to Aquilla twice now.

Triangle Cake and Curbstard are pretty boring.
I'm feeling the bassline and keys in Curbstard but its just
to submerged in sloshy effects for me to get into it.

I listed the Bola albums I listened to today. And I listened
to each one from start to finish in the proper track order.

Oh, right. Sorry.

Maybe Bola just isn't for you then. Hopefully someone else
here can back me up with praise for Bola...

The track Aquilla is extremely good though. Like I give it a
9.6. So I'm not totally hating on him.

I have Bola 'Soup' and an album by him under Jello alias
(Voile). Some of tracks on Soup are nice, W.I.K. is my
favourite of them. Glink and Whoblo are also nice.
But general impression i've got from listening to that
aalbum is that Bola doesn't care about making some original
sounds, his sounds are like more-less raw synth sounds, or
MIDI. And music resembles Jean-Michelle Jarre. It's a 1998
album, in the ends.
I heard one more track by him sometimes, 'Strange and
Beautiful', it seemed better.

..or not 'Strange and Beautiful', maybe it was Veronex
Cypher from Fyuti.

sorry..
i wanna get more Bola, especially Pae Paoe
or the album with that track, because earlier in this board
i saw a lot of people said it is the best by Bola)

i think bola has some of the most original and unique sounds
out of anybody in this scene. i think his stuff sounds so
full and lush. who's sounds do you like?

hm. i don't know, what to say..
his sound on 'Soup' seems not original. Melodies, harmony,
rhythm - are all good, 5/5, but sounds are like default
synths settings... except some sounds in W.I.K.

anyway, who i am to judge? he plays what he wants,
professionally.

i just started to get into bola, i have soup and fyuti, but
i am awaiting gnayse, and all i can say about it is, its
good. soup for me is a little better than fyuti, but ive
only listened to fyuti a handful of times. soup is
SOOOOOOOOO good it hurts, if i was going to suggest an album
to stick with, it would be that one, it grows on you like a
good cancer, its a classic album.
