Best Dreamcast Game Ever?

I have recently rediscovered my dreamcast, which sat
collecting dust for 2 years at my parents house until just a
week ago. It had slipped my mind during those 2 years that
my DC has a modchip and can play most burned games without a
bootdisk... So now I've been rebuilding my library, and I
must say, while the DC definately had it's shortcomings
there are still plenty of rewarding gameplay experiences to
be had on it. I'd like to take a poll: What is your personal
all-time favorite game for the Dreamcast? I know it's hard
to choose one (I'm having trouble myself) but try your
xltronic best. Mine, at the moment, is probably Shenmue, but
it's practically tied with Marvel Vs. Capcom 2. I love you
all, goodnight.

I hated soul reaver. At first it seemed like it would be
awesome, especially with the cool introduction.. but
eventually I got sick of wandering around lost destroying
respawning enemies. I haven't played Ikaragua or whatever
it's called but am pretty sure it's on dreamcast and is
supposed to be good. Rez is fantastic. It's not really a
great "game" but rather a work of art and I forget if it's
for dreamcast. Sonic for dreamcast sucked ass. Soul caliber
sucked ass. Marvel vs capcom 2 was ok but just lacked the
strategic gameplay of earlier genesis versions. I hated
shenmue too. I just know there are obscure role playing
games etc for it that I'd really like, I just havn't played
them all.

it'll always be my favourite system. my dreamcast sits on
the floor in front of the cabinet holding my gamecube and
xbox, and gets more time than both of them combined. it's a
2d fighting fan's heaven.

and jet grind radio is not only the best dreamcast game ever
but also one of the greatest games of all time. i bought
rayman 3 yesterday because 2 on dreamcast is one my
favourite platformers. i recommend that (2) since it's an
underlooked gem that many haven't played.

p.s. soul reaver was awesome as shit.

Resident Evil- Code Veronica. It was the first next-gen (if
Dreamcast counts) game I played, and it knocked my pants
off. Lengthy, fairly tough, gorgeous... and had ties to The
Big Comfy Couch.

I never got to play much Dreamcast back in the day, I was
completely attached to Perfect Dark.

what earlier genesis versions of marvel vs capcom were
there? I dont see how any fighting game could require more
strategy than MvC2, given the fact that it is very fast
paced and you have to pick 3 characters that will complement
one another well in battle. It has tons of moves and the
possibilities for extreme combos. It's worlds ahead of the
simple one on one jump-kick fighting of the genesis/SNES
realm. Don't let nostalgia get the better of you.

hmmm, this is tough... I really enjoyed Shenmue but when I
completed it, I didn't play it again.
I guess my favourites would be... Crazy Taxi/2, Shenmue and
MSR. I did buy Jet Set Radio (That's the British one)
quite recently but my DC has fucked up and has stopped me
from enjoying any games on it. It's damn annoying.

DC never required a mod chip so I wonder who you paid to not
do anything to your Dreamcast.

well, actually I didn't pay anything for it, as I traded my
friend my shitty PSX a long time ago for it. I thought I
remembered him saying it had a modchip, but either way I
don't give a fuck because I'm playing games for free.

"Soul caliber sucked ass." I think that has B7 written all
over it. Thats like saying "Star Wars sucked ass". I thought
that was the only game that was available for dreamcast?

I still have a PSX with a bunch of burnt games I play all
the time!

Cant you get a bunch of cool emulators for your dreamcast ?

look to the east my friends...

ikaruga. border down...both fucking hardCORE.

shenmue is the most overrated game ever imho. soul calibur
was the perfect arcade conversion. daytona was tight.
revolt and toy commander both offered plenty of multiplayer
fun. the best thing it's for though is emus. got a snes
running on mine. it's tops.

Soul Calibur is probably my favorite video game ever.

I bought Shenmue for cheap on ebay because I read so many
great reviews. I couldn't get into that shit. I played it
for a few hours and it was all walking around talking to
people. And the people always said "Oh, go talk to [this
person] about it." So you'd go talk to the next person, and
they'd say the same thing... It was fucking boring. So I'd
turn it off and play some Soul Calibur!
