Great music is being realised all the time. You're just
ill-informed. Hell, even I am. I occasionally start thinking
similarly... but then when I come here and see people
(tolstoyed and DeadEight in particular) rounding off huge
lists of recommendations with enough music to last for
months, and I just thinking "Shut UP".

music has been around as long as human beings and always
will exist... it can't be over - it's not going to happen.
so i think what you mean is that you can't find any new
music that you enjoy.

there is constantly great music coming out all over the
world, you just have to look for it. besides that, there's
already an endless amount of music that has already come out
to enjoy - more than one person can ever listen to within
their lifespan. so quit complaining and start listening.

wow, that's a rather pretenious thing to say...

but, i think music is highly overrated anyway, so it's good
that it's finally over.

i totally adore this one piece, it's off an album called
'selected organ works' by walter kraft. it's a bit tough to
suggest something after 300 years from a ceuvre of roughly
1500 different works. actually i don't even know one
comparable organ work. if you like a particular piece or not
will mostly depend on the actual interpretation, glenn gould
for example would have played this thing totally different.
there are crystal clear interpretations of the toccata &
fugue in D minor (bwv565) which lack the warmth and
emotionality of the one i posted. and most other stuff is
also much harder to listen to. worth checking out are the
brandenburg concertos, the goldberg variations (probably the
most condensed music ever written but hardly accessible) and
'the art of fugue'. you might also like schubert op. 94
I-IV, rather different though.

Music will never ever die... It can't... It makes us
survive... It gives us happyness, Joy, sadness, and pure
emotions...

(electro) Now don't blame "music" if you don't have that
much of a wide taste...
